when media reports on men "having sex with underage girls"
THE TESTAMENTS 1.01 "Precious Flowers"
As soon as they panned to the fiber arts classes I sat straight up because that is the PERFECT mechanism for girls and women to pass coded messages in Gilead. No one is going to pay any attention to the Wives knitting or embroidering or making lace - it's basically the only "work" they are allowed to engage in. It's seen as frivolous and purely ornamental. Even in our world, men dismiss the value of fiber arts and belittle the women who engage in them. And yet throughout history fiber arts/textiles have been used to communicate coded information. In the 1800s, quilts were used to communicate coded information about how to navigate the Underground Railroad. In WWII, knitting was used to send coded messages concerning troop or railroad movements.
The girls have been deprived of the opportunity to learn to read traditional writing, but they are being given the tools to communicate clandestinely right under Gilead's nose.

sending love, from the moon
I just really love how human this mission feels. Both the crew and the ground making fun jokes and references ("amaze, amaze, amaze!") or things like Glover saying "hello baby!" to his family back on Earth, or how "moon joy" has become the team's favorite phrase, or those craters being named "Integrity" and "Carroll," or the astronauts being encouraged to describe how seeing the moon makes them feel (and doing so to a moving degree), and also describing how much working and talking together improves their capabilities on all fronts, and both sides constantly telling each other how excited they are and that there's "smiles all around" Not that missions like Apollo never had stuff like this, but it's different hearing it all live. Wonderful experience all around.
A little poem for Artemis
Hey someone suggested I use ChatGPT to figure out adulting today, and as I was going through the mental list of places I'd rather look, I realized "beloved strangers on Tumblr dot net" was on that list.
So if you have an aspect of adulting that you're really good at-taxes, budgeting, cooking, insurance, credit, time management, house upkeep, anything-please feel free to reblog with any tips.
Not me, but @bitchesgetriches has a lot of great resources for many of these topics on their website.
That's us! Professional internet adults, specializing in financial stuff! We recommend starting with our Grand List of All Articles, or one of our Masterposts:

Christina Koch (Mission Specialist), Artemis II - April 6th 2026
It's official! The Artemis II crew of Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen (speaking) and NASA astronauts Christina Koch, Victor Glover, and Reid Wiseman have broken the Apollo 13 distance record and flown further from the Earth than any human in history.
