The Texas Toast Jam, in October in Austin, has to be the sickest BMX event around today. Watching every pro rider you could imagine ride, & partying with every bmx friend you've ever known, all in one place at one time. Undocumentable awesomeness. I tried though, and can't urge enough that you attend the next one.
A few years ago, my friends & I found a insanely awesome camping spot. Driving further & further, then walking further & further, with our equipment on our backs, we ended up at our spot. A massive rock on top of a climb, large enough to camp(on moss with a 7 person tent), burn, & lounge on. Far from civilization, small stream drizzling by down to a fun river spot. Open stars above, windmill through the tree tops on a distance mountain. Extremely ideal Pennsylvania camping location we just fell onto. Sadly, where we typically would park & hike in from, is now littered with "No Trespassing","Posted", etc signs. We have plans to park in a near town, float down stream to our spot, & hike back up the railroad tracks after what I hope is a long stay though. I can't begin to describe how eager I am to experience the woods again.
This bowl at Boyce Park is 8 feet deep, and I took this photo of Chris Doyle from on top of the 8 foot fence surrounding it. Super clicked turndown, at height. I can't help but imagine how insane this looked from lower angles. Scary high.
A lot of steps, in many directions, today. Time for radical life changes. Happy to be going.
The view I yearn for year round, the windows of Pennsylvania's Finest, Camp High Point.
I had the pleasure of hosting Johnny Devlin, and a couple of his teammates from The Shadow Conspiracy, in 2007 while they filmed for "Into The Void". I remember mentioning this spot when we were in the area, but figuring it was no good unless to huck something off the end of. Leave it to them to prove me wrong with 2 creative moves.
I will be picking fruit daily here soon. For now, a photo I shot on 35mm, in 2005, with a Canon AE-1. The camera was given to my grandfather by a wedding photographer. He left it in the attic & my father gave it to me eventually. In 2006, while riding in Baltimore, I forgot it at a spot way atop a hill. Not realizing I had forgotten it until I reached the bottom, I pedalled the whole way to the top, far past exhaustion. It wasn't there. Last camera I've let leave my sight
im creating this blog as an hungry artist. hoping to find raw, inspiring art, but more so, hoping to produce a stream of art to share & inspire. my internet backlog consists mostly of photos & (bmx) videos, despite everything else im into, so im excited to create & document new things. hope you enjoy(ed)
