my last two brain cells
please be nice to me, i'm in my twenties. do you know what that does to a person
i feel like no one really wants to hear that sleep/exercise/nutrition/hydration are major factors in treating mental health issues bc we’ve all talked to that person who thinks your depression would be cured by one good session of goat yoga or whatever but unfortunately they do help and i’m chronically annoyed about it

How stupidly a privileged point of view is that. Make work policies that let people rest and enjoy their off work hours, affordable rents, convenient and capillary public transports, reduce pollution, make healthy food affordable to poor people, give them paid holidays, and you will see how mental illnesses numbers will drop.
unironically though: yknow what helps chronic depression? Keeping your body in good shape physically. It’s by no means a CURE, but for a lot of people it will absolutely help them manage things.
Emotional rut is real and it will hold you down and NOT let you go. Keeping yourself physically healthy, eating well (as well as you can, maybe toss in like… an apple every so often?), staying hydrated, doing SOME form of exercise everyday, socializing, and MOST OF ALL, DOING THIS THINGS EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO… all of that shit contributes to feeling better and loosening it’s grip, even if it’s just a little bit.
@eggmacguffin ‘s take is SPOT FUCKING ON, and I also agree with @biggestluca about how it’s also due to systemic shit, but I cannot emphasize enough how much the little shit adds up and can help turn the tide in your favor. Eat some fruit today! Do some sit ups! Stretch! Learn a yoga pose! Stop looking at the goddamn screen and do some of this! If you need the motivation to do so, THIS IS THE SIGN MOTHERFUCKER

ppl who oppose gender affirming care for kids are nuts like the extent of medical intervention for trans kids is maybe puberty blockers but they’ll still be like “SO UR SAYING WE SHOULD LET TODDLERS HAVE TOP SURGERY???????” barbara toddlers do not have a top to surgery
sending love and warmth to everyone feeling uncomfortable, upset, fatigued, lonely, ignored, hurt or lost today. whatever it is, it has no choice but to pass. in the meantime, it’s okay to not be the strong one for once.
