Some of yāall need to stop implementing Western ideals and social norms onto foreign shows that you watch. I have been following two Kdramaās in the past couple of weeks, and some of discourse around them are veryā¦ American. And not only thatā¦ itās very Twitter-y American. I think some of you guys need to realize a lot of these things that you want to happen, or the situations that yāall have problems with, are simply not part of mainstream discourse or discussion in other foreign cultures. Theyāre just not. People donāt see these ātoxicā things as immoral or inappropriate. In fact, In most cases these things are widely accepted and agreed upon. So the fact that yāall come up and say āthis is an unhealthy relationshipā or āthis is toxicāā¦ etc.. the reality is that these things arenāt toxic or unhealthy in the other end of the world. Particularly Eastern countries in which things are mostly traditional and conservative. You saying these things can also be very offensive to ethnic people living there. Youāre outright bashing their culture. So I feel like when your watching foreign media, some of yāall need to be aware of what that entails. Cause some of you are clearly not aware and are imposing Western norms and ideals on people and cultures who donāt have them. Itās not rightā¦ You just canāt whitewash other cultures and force western values on them. Some things are just simply different, and that needs to be respected. If you feel uncomfortable, well maybe consuming foreign media is not for you. Itās in the name: Foreign. Meaning different cultures have different value systems and it needs to be respected, regardless of whether you like it or not. You canāt change the customs or beliefs of other cultures because YOU, feel uncomfortable. Itās not your place. Itās justā¦something to think about.
