Indie Game Spotlight: TemTem
Listen up, Pokémon fans, because this week’s Indie Game Spotlight is for you! Inspired by Pokémon, Temtem is a massively multiplayer creature-collection game, in which you take your Temtem squad to seek adventure in the lovely Airborne Archipelago. Catch every Temtem, battle other tamers, customize your house, join a friend’s exploits, and explore the dynamic online world.
We chatted with Enrique Paños, the CEO at Crema Games, about his inspiration and what’s to come for the game. Read on!
What was the main inspiration for the game?
Pokémon was the main inspiration, but we took many things from other games we loved. Legend of Zelda, Ni no Kuni, Gigantic, etc.
How can players customize their TemTem trainer?
Right now, they can customize trainers’ clothes, skin, body, eyes, and even the voice, or “personality,” in their animations.
In what way is the combat mechanic focussed on being 100% skill and strategy based?
We have removed any elements that could be random. When you trigger an attack, you know what will happen. If you poison or make a status to your enemy, you know how many turns they will last, from the start. In short, if you win, it will be due to strategy, rather than luck.
Which other features can we expect to see in the game?
There will be clubs, like guilds, which will be able to fight each other and conquer or defend dojos. There will also be the possibility to breed TemTems, and join weekly and monthly events, ranked battles, tournaments, and competitive matches with pick and ban. You’ll be able to play the campaign solo or with a friend in co-op mode, and we will be integrating a nuzlocke mode in the main game soon.
Which TemTem would you want to have in real life and why?
Probably Raiber, it’s so cute and playful.
Thanks, Enrique! If you want to be updated on Temtem, make sure to check them out here!
