❛ You like this too much to call it practice. ❜
THE SPARRING SESSION... was supposed to be going well ── in a way, Remy would be lying if he said it wasn't going well. Too well, even if he initially believed he'd get his ass kicked by Rogue. However, the tides turned to his side, as if lady luck decided to grace him with her favor.
He was now over her, with a triumphant smirk adorning his visage as he held one of her clothed arms over her head. “Mayhaps dis is 'cos i be kickin' your ass dis time 'round, chère.” The cajun chirped, before adding, “Dat or it's th' close proximity. I can almost get distracted lookin' at ya.”
Gambit's gaze lingers there, studying her visage. He knew she was one who could easily ingratiate and intimidate at the same time. He should be careful ── he knew what she could do. Yet his self-confidence backfires easily, could this be one of those times he'd rue it? There was a certain mocking in his eyes, which challenged the Southern Belle to try her shots.
first meeting sentence starters.
send one to have our muses meet for the first time.
“Sorry, were you just talking to me?”
“I think you dropped this.”
“You look lost. Need some help?”
“I don’t usually talk to strangers, but…”
“You’re sitting in my spot.”
“Whoa! Careful!”
“We’ve never met, right? You seem familiar.”
“Is that seat taken?”
“Sorry, I think I just spilled something on you.”
“You’re blocking the doorway.”
“Were you just staring at me?”
“Excuse me, do you know the time?”
“Wait — are you the person I’m supposed to meet?”
“I’ve been sent to find you.”
“Please don’t be alarmed, but I think we have the same bag.”
“Do you work here?”
“I’m fairly certain that’s mine.”
“You’ve got something on your face.”
“Sorry, I thought you were someone else.”
“Do you know the way to ___?”
“You’re hurt. Do you need help?”
“That’s a fine ___ (cloak/hat/book/etc.). Where did you get it?”
“This might sound strange, but can I hide behind you for a moment?”
“You look like you could use a friend.”
“I think your dog just stole my lunch.”
“Hey, you dropped your coin purse.”
“I think we’re stuck in here together.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to overhear, but…”
“Are you the new neighbor?”
“First time in town?”
“I’m not sure if this belongs to you, but…”
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“I’ve been hearing a lot about you.”
“Do you mind if I join you?”
“I think you’re in the wrong place.”
“You seem… out of place.”
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but are you following me?”
“That was a close call.”
“Not to alarm you, but someone’s watching you.”
“Mind if I walk with you?”
“You look like you’re in trouble.”
“Was that your doing back there?”
“You don’t look like you’re from around here.”
“That was impressive. How’d you manage it?”
“I’m guessing you’re not here by accident.”
“Do I want to know what just happened?”
“You might want to keep your voice down.”
“Is it always this strange around here?”
“I have a feeling we’re about to become acquainted whether we like it or not.”
“Looks like we’re in this together now.”

Training Grounds & Bruised Pride
❛ You’re getting better… but not good enough to beat me. ❜
❛ That swing would’ve taken my head off if you weren’t distracted staring at me. ❜
❛ You call that a punch? Try again. Harder. ❜
❛ Careful—if you keep touching me like that, I’ll forget this is just training. ❜
❛ You’re supposed to disarm me, not pin me down. ❜
❛ If you wanted to get me on the ground, there are easier ways. ❜
❛ Oh, so now you’re blushing? Didn’t expect that from you. ❜
❛ Don’t hold back just because I’m close. Hit me. ❜
❛ You like this too much to call it practice. ❜
❛ You’re bleeding. …and you’re smiling about it? ❜
Clash & Proximity
❛ Stop moving—if you do, I’ll let you go. Maybe. ❜
❛ You’re enjoying this way more than you should. ❜
❛ I could feel your heartbeat when I had you pinned. ❜
❛ You’re supposed to block, not get distracted every time I breathe. ❜
❛ Funny how you only get serious when I get close. ❜
❛ Is this still a fight, or are we pretending it is? ❜
❛ If you wanted to touch me, you could’ve just asked. ❜
❛ That smirk’s going to get you in trouble. ❜
❛ You’re trembling. Adrenaline or something else? ❜
❛ You’ve got a death wish standing that close. Or maybe just a bad idea. ❜
Verbal Sparring & Tension
❛ What’s wrong—afraid I’ll beat you? Or that I won’t stop when I do? ❜
❛ Keep taunting me and I might forget to pull my punches. ❜
❛ You talk too much. Let’s see if I can change that. ❜
❛ Didn’t realize arrogance was one of your fighting styles. ❜
❛ Don’t act so calm—you’re shaking. I can feel it. ❜
❛ You like pushing me, don’t you? ❜
❛ Admit it—you only challenged me so you’d have an excuse to touch me. ❜
❛ I thought you were dangerous. Turns out you’re just distracting. ❜
❛ You keep saying this is training, but you keep looking at my mouth. ❜
❛ Try again. And stop pretending you don’t want to. ❜
Pinned & Breathless
❛ You should really get off me… unless you plan to stay there. ❜
❛ You gonna move, or are you enjoying the view? ❜
❛ You’re heavy. …Don’t you dare move. ❜
❛ Your hand’s still on me. Not that I mind. ❜
❛ Is this where you finally admit you like losing to me? ❜
❛ You can let go now. …anytime. ❜
❛ I said training, not straddling. ❜
❛ If anyone walks in right now, I’m blaming you. ❜
❛ Don’t look at me like that. You’ll make me forget we’re supposed to be fighting. ❜
❛ I thought this was about technique, not temptation. ❜
Aftermath & Smolder
❛ You’ve got blood on your lip. …Here, let me— ❜
❛ You hit harder than you should. I liked it. ❜
❛ I should hate how close that was. But I don’t. ❜
❛ You’re shaking. Here—catch your breath. ❜
❛ For someone who swears they don’t care, you sure looked worried when I fell. ❜
❛ You didn’t have to pull me that close. ❜
❛ I’ve fought a lot of people. None of them ever looked at me like that. ❜
❛ Are we still sparring, or… something else? ❜
❛ Tell me you didn’t feel that too. ❜
❛ Maybe next time, we skip the weapons. ❜

Conflict & Confrontation
“You really think I’d ever trust you again after what you did?”
“Careful. You’re standing awfully close for someone who swore they hated me.”
“Every time I see your face, I remember exactly why I can’t stand you.”
“You’ve got some nerve showing up here after everything.”
“I hate how you always make me feel like the villain.”
“We’re supposed to be working together, not killing each other.”
“Say what you want, but you wouldn’t be this angry if you didn’t still care.”
“You think I don’t see through you? I know exactly what game you’re playing.”
Tension & Proximity
“If you keep glaring at me like that, people will start to think we’re flirting.”
“You’re bleeding. Sit down. I didn’t say I cared, I said you’re bleeding.”
“Stop moving. The enemy will hear you—and I’m not carrying you out of here again.”
“Why do you always have to stand this close when we argue?”
“You hate me so much, yet here you are—protecting me.”
“If you want me gone, say it. Otherwise, stop looking at me like that.”
“Admit it—you’d rather fight me than be alone with your thoughts.”
“You don’t get to call me that name. Not anymore.”
Allies by Necessity
“The irony of fighting side by side with you isn’t lost on me.”
“We need to focus on surviving this, not each other.”
“You saved my life—why?”
“We both know this alliance will fall apart the second we win.”
“If I die out here, don’t you dare pretend to mourn me.”
“You’re the last person I wanted watching my back, but… I guess I’m glad you did.”
“I didn’t ask for your help.” — “You didn’t have to.”
Cracks in the Armor
“For someone who hates me, you sure can’t stop looking at me.”
“I told myself I wouldn’t care if you got hurt, but I lied.”
“I should hate you. I want to hate you.”
“Don’t touch me—because if you do, I won’t stop you.”
“You think this changes anything? It doesn’t. I still can’t stand you.”
“You kissed me just to shut me up, didn’t you?”
“I can’t decide if I want to kill you or kiss you.”
“You always said I’d be the death of you. Maybe you were right.”
Emotional Wounds & Betrayal
“You took everything from me—and I still can’t let you go.”
“You betrayed me. You don’t get to act like the victim.”
“Why did you save me? Guilt? Pity?”
“You said you’d never lie to me. Was that just another lie?”
“All that hatred—does it make it easier to forget what we used to be?”
“You left me to die. Do you know what that does to a person?”
“You were the one person I was supposed to destroy. Instead, you ruined me.”
Quiet Moments Between Chaos
“Don’t look at me like that. I can’t fight you when you look at me like that.”
“I don’t remember when I stopped hating you.”
“You’re the last person I expected to see here.”
“I hate that I trust you more than anyone else.”
“We could pretend—just for tonight—that none of this ever happened.”
“Every time I think I’ve forgotten you, you find a way to remind me.”
“I don’t know what scares me more—that I want you, or that you might want me too.”
“If we survive this, what then? Do we go back to being enemies… or something else?”
I'm reviving Remy! Send some asks or leave a like and I'll send you one instead!

(XD) Remy was throwing cards around, nearly getting the other caught in an explosion by accident. Though he thought of apologizing for it,
@kineticcharmer
Oh ha ha ha,very funny. Granted, Red could handle Gambit's explosives with very little effort, but a Hulk had standards on where to aim.
At least HE did. Big Green was the one that liked to aim below the belt a few times to get a win.
" Keep laughin' LeBeau. If I tossed a rock at your jewels you wouldn't be laughing so hard either."
Still, he had to wonder...
" What the Hell are you up to, anyways? Aren't you usually with the rest of the X-Men?"
Listening to the other's words brought back memories of his own. Everyone had their own experiences after all. It wasn't unnatural to feel familiar but were their issues cut from the same cloth?
Gambit's expression remained serious as he considered the offer.
“I won't turn down de help but dis is clearly trouble, mon cher. You sure you're not bitin' more t'an you can chew?”
He was half-joking, knowing well the Red Hulk was strong. But the thought of being in debt with him didn't sound good at all.
“I lost a device dat McCoy made, it enhances one's abilities t'a certain degree. It's pretty obvious what de crimelord who has it will use it for...”

He fell quiet for a second, allowing the silence between them to linger for a moment as a yellow smile came to him. The Hulk had a point.
“Errm... it's a long story.” Once the inquiry was made, he reflected on his actions hours ago.
He had lost an important item the X-Men had created. To top it off it was on a Poker table.
Remy wasn't used to losing like that, it almost felt cheated.
“Ever lost somethin' you weren't supposed to? Well! I'm out here t'get back what i lost.”
He averted his eyes back to the other, his mind running with doubts but in the end only one question was voiced.
“What is it to you, though?”
Strip club || Dazzler || Closed
@kineticcharmer
The club wasn’t overly busy, but that suited Ali just fine. It meant she could give the people watching her dance the attention they craved.
This was a higher end club, she’d worked her way up from the dives where she’d learned the ropes, which meant better tips from her admirers.
She knew most of them, had slept with most of them even- for a price, and knew what they liked.
Her outfit was more stick on jewels than clothes and they caught the light with her every movement.
If she added a few subtle special effects with her powers, well, no one was the wiser.
She finished her dance and headed through the seats to the bar for a drink.
((Minus the jacket and face jewels))
The professor had tasked Remy with gathering more mutants and bringing them in, should they want to. He was aware joining the X-Men would be a change for anyone, but was it a desirable thing? It surely came with its pros and cons, but he wasn't one to overthink or make other's decisions.
He knew there was a mutant working at that high-end club and decided to pay her a visit.
The place's atmosphere was lively even without many people that night, which surprised him.
He was there on business, but everyone was eye-candy. It made him want to loosen up too.
For some reason, the Cajun couldn't take off his eyes of a specific dancer. Something about her just stood out, call it a hunch, but he believed she was the mutant there.
His gaze followed her every movement, soon he rose from his seat and tagged behind her to the bar.
“You surely know how t'put on a show, don't you? Somethin’ 'bout your moves back dere aren't at all... ordinary.” He began, finally stopping on his tracks besides the other.
He was usually so eloquent, yet now Remy felt troubled. How should he go about that? He couldn't just say they wanted her to become an X-Men.
“You're a mutant. Correct?” He asked in a hushed tone, unsure how people there would react to that.
“What should i call ya?”

────🃁ᝰ⠀⠀⠀OPEN STARTER
Gambit was treading along the alleyway, his ears picking up sound but his peculiar set of eyes failing to spot the reader. They're the source of the sound perhaps?
He didn't pay much attention to it at first, however as it continued he had no other choice other than want to check it out, the X-Man's curiosity mildly stired.
“I know you're dere, as loud as you were...” He pointed out, removing his hands from his trenchcoat only to reveal a set of cards.
Nonchalant steps are taken, carrying him closer to the dark spot he assumed the reader was in.
“Question is: what kinda trouble are ya up to?”
━━━ ❦ He floats above the sidewalk like nobody’s business. The cloak taps its friend to get his attention. Stephen darts his head towards the X Man that was speaking to him. A brow was raised and he opens his mouth to say something. He looked at the man up and down. He had seen him around of course. Stephen was familar with the Mutants.
He had noticed that they been popping up around lately, which he didn’t mind of course. ❝ I try not to cause trouble, but if you must know..❞ Stephen stopped floating and he actually puts his feet down. He touched the cold snow. He twirled his hands around letting orange magical sparks fly out of his fingertips. ❝ Have you seen any interdenominational monsters lately?❞ He made a simple head tilt. He was carrying a book around him. A spell book.
He tilted his head to the side ever-so-slightly, a pensive expression finding its way to his visage. Remy tried to recall what these monsters should look like, his lively imagination doing more than it should to help. But alas, he hasn't seen anything unusual per se.
“Depends, mon ami, I heard weird rumors lately. De locals are sayin' dat a demon's roaming around here at night.” He began, shuffling his deck before going on.
“I came here t'investigate, but lady luck hasn't smiled upon me yet.”
For all he knew, it could be just baseless rumors that shouldn't be minded. But it didn't change the fact a few people went missing in the vicinity.
He's seen the other before, that was the only thing that made him less suspicious of their presence there.
“Anyways, dat doesn't really answer my question. Must you keep me in de dark, monsieur?”
