first of all the fact that they’re still sleeping in the same bed together despite the fight they’ve just had, plus guk’s growing despair surrounding his feelings towards taejoo is just like….. i have no words. the looks on their faces like they both know things are off between but they’re still sleeping next to each other…

this kinda feels like a complete inverse of the first scene we saw them sleeping in the same bed in, too.

also i’m getting the feeling that beside guk and his mom, taejoo doesn’t really have anything to go off of when it comes to…. postive relationships i suppose you’d say? so when he says “hug me like my mom” imo i feel like that’s his way of saying hug me softly. without hurting me. because i trust you. u know? also feel like he might not have said this if he and guk were facing each other. i think part of why taejoo asked in the first place is bc guk is facing away from him. he’s scared that following this, guk will get further away him. which is why when guk refuses, not just with words but actually physically pushing him away

(also that “taejoo-yah” guk you’re killing me)

so taejoo pulls what some might consider a teensy bit manipulative card, and says this

it’s not untrue. guk was essentially his one constant in life, and now he isn’t. he is always at taejoo’s side, always protects him, always comforts him. so if guk doesn’t reply (by comforting him) here then like. what’s taejoo going to do y’know? taejoo isn’t really one to be vulnerable (went into that more in my taejoo touching ears=habit playing with ppl/not being open) and we’ve seen how he is. he acts annoying and bratty and isn’t really like…. he’s not cruel but he isn’t an overly nice person(to ppl aren’t guk)

but ofc, despite everything between them right now, guk turns over and hugs him like taejoo wants. they don’t say anything, because they aren’t ready for a conversation yet. they still aren’t on the same level.

and this seems well practiced. guk has 100% held taejoo like this before, many times. and the way taejoo just kinda… fits into guk is simultaneously both sweet and sad. that’s a touchstarved™ if i’ve ever seen one. they way guk holds him is just like. really secure.

i think that guk exists less a bodyguard to protect taejoo from physical threats, but from mental ones. from himself; his loneliness, sadness, and like i said starvation for kind touch.
