A character trait/dynamic that I'm endlessly compelled by is someone dealing with (or, like, failing to) being the child of people who were too busy being good people to have the time and attention to be good parents. This can be anywhere from 'was a public defender who gave a shit working 60 hour weeks with basically no vacations' to 'left their family behind to join the revolution/war effort and is now a universally beloved martyr-hero who saved/remade the world with their final breath' on the groundedness spectrum. The important thing is a viscerally felt but confused and ugly mess of longing, resentment, and guilt about feeling the resentment.
hold on a second. everybody rb this with your go-to movie theater snacks + beverage
as a transfem, neurodivergent artist ill probably get a lot of backlash for this but im opening a cosmic gate and unleashing a horde of terrible worm-like beasts and their hunger will soon consume the entire galaxy

how do you pronouns an italic
you have to lean a bit, with your body
shipping a consensual, safe & sane pairing all the while i'm shaking my head in disapproval so the audience knows i still love wildly toxic abusive fictional dynamics

i love you mirror versions i love you possession i love you cloning i love you simulacrums i love you shadow selves i love you digital copies of a mind i love you alternate timeline versions i love you tropes that play with identity and what it means to be a certain person
not being attracted to men in fandom is really isolating sometimes
its just so obviously different when someone is engaging in a convo about a female character because it's the polite thing to do and not because they have any investment in it. and normally that would be fine except this is something you have to deal with literally everywhere you go, no matter who the other people you're conversing with are. and you can feel the switch in interest so potently when women are the focus of the conversation versus men.
and again it's not really any one person's fault. but it's just so lonely sometimes ahahh
It would kill half the 19-25 year olds online to realize "I can't help it I have trauma" is one of THE quintessential abuser excuses
Like there is a difference between "My trauma creates impulsive urges and has changed my instinctive reactions to be irrational, I need to relearn shit." vs "I'm traumatized so I Can't Help It and you're not allowed to expect better of me"
halmarut's different designs... fun to think about how she would be like as an Ancient
Not "The Character did nothing wrong" or "The Character is irredeemably awful" but a secret third thing: The Character may display moments of deep love & compassion, may even have a strong sense of ethics, and may also be capable of brutal cruelty that is irreconcilable with those traits. The constant tension between the different sides of The Character's nature is exactly what makes them compelling, and attempting to reduce them down to simply "a terrible person" or "innocent & misunderstood" is missing the point of the questions a media with nuanced characters is asking you to consider
