Some metalheads/music elitists genuinely piss me off so much, man. I saw a post where this child was trying to learn My Own Summer (Shove It) by Deftones. It wasn't the best but they were doing pretty well for what seemed to be a beginner and so many people were calling them a "poser" just because it's a popular song on Tiktok???
Obviously some of the comments were ragebait (which i genuinely hate as well) but this one person was so adamant that this CHILD was a poser for wanting to learn a popular song...
Like, I love any and all music, if it sounds good to me, I'll add it to my playlist and have it on repeat for hours. I listen to metal, pop, rap, nerdcore, rock, jazz, classical, literally everything (except country i'm sorry), but some people just don't seem to understand that other people might not like the same genre of music, or the same artist, or whatnot.
I've seen so many people say that "[blank] hate is so forced" like they can't comprehend that some people might not like a musician. Maybe, just maybe... there are a lot of people who do not like an artist. Sometimes I feel defensive when people say they don't like Metallica. I know people who say that they haven't released anything good after AJFA, which I personally disagree with because I love all their songs (we don't speak on lulu).
I love Metallica, and they've been my hyperfixation for years, but I still respect the fact that people do not like their music because music is subjective. Something that doesn't sound good to me, might be something that someone likes.
I want to know why some people feel a need to act like they know better about music, like they're qualified to tell people who is and is not a poser, what songs are good and what songs are bad. Obviously, people can share their opinions on things, but it's always stated as a fact from these people.
When people were using Rein Raus by Rammstein for Goth transitions, they were called posers as well because... checks notes... they used a metal song? Huh.....
I'm yapping on at this point because I need to talk about this. I'm sick asf right now and I can't sleep.
