I’d prefer no reblog but I’m not going to bother putting this under a cut like normal.

I’m actually quite pleased with it, tenses aside. It’s a bit more subtle than America literally grabbing her arm and bitching about the NHS during one of his red scare eras, though I don’t know if in the fic it comes across as America being paranoid or him being more depressed and overworked and feeling isolated. oh well.

There’s also the change from a relationship where you used to be closer, where you used to be more equal. Still, she’s more understanding about America’s position than most. There’s some kind of historical/political commentary in that, I think.

Also, if you’re wondering where the title comes from: I used that song because I couldn’t come up with a title, and hey, picnics in the wood. I think the title works with the fic? It’s supposed to be fairly ambiguous.

you could, if you squinted, read it as a critique(/parody?) of how they’re both characterised in fandom, but I didn’t write it like that intentionally. I like to think I’m fairly chill about that sort of thing.

I was reading my way through a rec list but I just checked on it after neglecting it for months and op deleted their twitter :(

alright, so this? still happening. by which I mean, I will not be going through my t*mblr dash anymore.

I have, perhaps predictably, still not gone through my likes and drafts so this won’t be completely dead yet, and I may still post and shit. but I haven’t been checking this t*mblr regularly for months now (or the discord servers either tbh but shh) and I can’t be bothered to scroll down to catch up on anything anymore.

I have also, er, fully descended into hetalia madness. by which I mean, I’ve read 200k+ fic now. which I haven’t done for tb for years. so. er. possible warning for a shift in content?

tbx reread is still on hiatus. I was thinking of collecting all of the translated tbx interview and dumping them onto a dreamwidth post for easy access for the reread, but that will take time. I don’t know how the upcoming tb anime will affect things - probably delay them, who knows. I like delaying things.

anyone wanting a link to the tbx server will have to directly message me for a link, and fuck knows how you’ll be able to do that anymore, I should check the seisub and subkam discords more regularly than I do, sorry. In addition, I won’t be giving out any more links at all after the tb anime starts.
