The Poisoned Ant = tavern for villains and rogues

Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.

Why is it that every time I google something like "Are olives poisonous to cats" the top results are always like "Fun fact: Cats are carnivores! This means that they eat meat. There is no reason to include olives in a cat's diet. You should feed your cat cat food, which is dry or wet food especially designed for cats. You can purchase this at a store." like is there a single person alive on the planet who's googled "Are blueberry muffins safe for cats" because they're planning on switching their cat to a muffin-only diet??? No, I'm asking because the little bastard somehow popped open the packet while I was putting away the groceries and dragged one under the couch before I could react and now I need to know if I should call the after-hours vet. "Cats should not eat spaghetti." NO SHIT, SHERLOCK!!!! "Try to keep human food away from cats." i live in a studio apartment with a completely silent and permanently hungry apex predator who has the intelligence of a toddler and the desperate Machiavellian cunning of a creature who spent his formative months on the streets. He can already open doors and he is this 👌 close to learning how to open the microwave. He is stronger than me and covered in knives. So im gonna do my best but for the moment i just need you to tell me whether this yoghurt is going to kill my son y/n
I've been using the pet poison hotline's poison list cause it has a search function. It also tells you whether something is mildly, moderately, or severely toxic which can be very handy! It doesn't contain like everything but it might be a good place to start, it also includes plants for fellow houseplant lovers <3
Explore Pet Poison Helpline®s vast knowledge on poisons by reviewing our pet poison list. Explore our top 10 poison and holiday poison lists
For plants specifically, there’s also a wildly detailed set of posts and listings about toxicity on the old, wonderful, Plants Are the Strangest People blog
Well, here it is! A Thrilling Animation...
It's been a long road and a labor of love. In the end it's all worth it to be able to watch it back and say "Hey I did that!" I sincerely hope you enjoy the progression from my jank middle schooler animation all the way up to my differently-jank adult animation hahahah
Also if I'm not mistaken I'm right in time for Thrilling Intent's 11th anniversary?! Happy Birthday Thrilling Intent!!
It's been a bit since I finished this, mind if I share some of my favorite frames now? There's kinda a lot, so they'll be below the cut :o)
You might notice the backgrounds are a light gray in these screenshots, that's how I intended them to be in the final render for ease of viewing. However, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make the program render it like that! In the end I gave up and cut my losses- better imperfect than incomplete I suppose!
Plus here's some smear-frames that brought me joy to draw hehe
Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
Last year we broke the record for an LGBT+ mass lobby of Parliament. Will you help us break it again? Join us on 25th June 2026 to demand be
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
Rather than distinctly male or female, the human brain is much more like the heart, kidneys and lungs – basically the same no matter the sex of the body it's in.
rb to make a biological essentialist mad <3
“This collapse is a telltale sign of a problem known as publication bias. Small, early studies which found a significant sex difference were likelier to get published than research finding no male-female brain difference.”
the notes on this are toxic - to help clear up any misunderstanding, here’s the actual science paper:
With the explosion of neuroimaging, differences between male and female brains have been exhaustively analyzed. Here we synthesize three dec

This is Doris Pollas, the cofounder of the organisation now known as lgbt+ Denmark which by being founded in 1948 is one of the oldest ongoing queer organisation in the world.
Doris lived in a farm in Jutland as a child. She was always butch and figured out she was a lesbian in her teens. When she heard about a club in copenhagen where boys kissed boys and girls kissed girls she went just some months after and it was through that club she started a paper connecting queer people all up to seventies and co founded lgbt+ Denmark.
She is now 97 years old and wishes for every queer person to have an as loving and accepting family as she did.
I don’t see a lot of older gays from my country, so learning about Doris, a masc lesbian, was really nice.
Doris passed ways last summer, aged 101. Here’s the obituary LGBT+ Danmark wrote for her - in English

I need to stop replying to “how do you make friends in your 30s?” threads because all my answers boil down to “you have to want to know people instead of have friends” and I don’t think people wanna hear that
It’s like. People can tell if you don’t really like or connect with them. If you aren’t truly enamored with someone you will have a hard time coming up with activities to do together to deepen the friendship. Because you don’t really like that person that much.
happy june everybody i hope you get fucked and/or sucked this month
what if we don't wanna be?
then i hope for peace

What’s the longest hypothetical phenotype you can get with a horse? Doesn’t have to be something that’s been done before just how mouthy can we make that name?
(So technically every genotype is the same length. A basic bay horse is E/_ A/_ but you could specify E/_ A/_ nd2/nd2 cr/cr ch/ch z/z g/g etc. It's just not relevant.)
I must warn you that this horse is gonna end up completely white from all the dilutions and white spotting we're gonna stack on top of each other.
I'm making the base colour bay because mushroom doesn't show on black horses and silver doesn't show on chestnuts.
I'm not including traits like sooty and pangaré because we don't really know how they work.
If I'm not mistaken, tobiano, roan and all the dominant white mutations are on the same locus so there can only be two of them on one horse. I chose a tobiano/roan combination because we know this one is viable but it could be any of them.
There are two splashed white genes, so a horse can have 4 splashed white alleles. Some combinations are lethal though so I chose one I've seen on a live horse before but once again it could be any of them.
So ideally it would look something like this:
E/_ A/_ D/_ Cr/prl CH/_ Z/_ mu/mu G/_ TO/Rn O/o SW1/n SW2/n LP/_ PATN1/_
So you meet this horse and you think "hey a white horse. neat!" you have it tested and you find out white is an illusion and it's actually a grey buckskin pearl dun champagne silver mushroom roan tovero splashed white leopard. or something along these lines
it wouldn’t let me turn on all the genes simultaneously, but:
(you can mess around with the alleles here)
Stablebound also won't let me stack every genotype, but I still got color breeding worthy of craigslisthorses (with and without grey)
Don't forget about snowdrop!!
Showing off the Arapaima I made! (Pattern also made by me)
This was the test of the new pattern and I love her. 🎏💕
