Thinking about orcs and evil creatures that are not warriors but still have odd jobs that help the Evil Takeover cause. They can’t source vegetables from the elves or men or hobbits so Saruman is contemplating with the eye but has to take a break to sign off on the new cabbage shipment to make soup for the new recruits

Just finished lotr for the second time and between this and the hobbit movies why is Legolas never fucking home. “Prince of the Woodland Elves” yeah maybe 100 years ago.The Forrest? He’s never heard of it. He’s too busy flirting with Gimli and secretly conditioning his hair while the rest of them sleep. Thranduil has to have a million more heirs at this point.

I think something interesting to note about the capitol and Panem as a whole, that I don’t really see people mention, is that the country is at this point pretty much race blind.

In the original movies and books, race isn’t even that much of a descriptor or main mentioning in the plot. Obviously some districts are more race heavy of certain types than others, likely because of original location (District 11: mostly black), but no one ever mentions this or considers it in the games.

In Snow’s movie, we see that this has pretty much been norm for years. Dr.Gaul, a black woman, is head gamemaker and has heavy influence because of it, Coriolanus’s classmates are black and Asian and Hispanic, and some of them actually speak !!!!

I think it would be interesting to see when America switched from race vs race vs government to government vs people as a whole, at least for the districts. Eventually the oppression had to be a truce point for people to let go of race wars, but what is the capitol ?

Do schools get a break in Panem ? I just remembered Snow’s granddaughter having Katniss’ braid and telling him “Everyone at school wears it like this now grandpa” which was during Katniss’ first games (I think), but now we know that the reaping takes place on July 4th (summer) which would make the whole games process last until about mid to late August, so not really school yet and I assumed it was an oversight.

But then I realized Haymitch mentions that they get the day off school for the reaping, meaning they go to school well into the summer, so do they get breaks at all ?? I doubt Snow is handing out holidays and springs breaks but going to school all year round seems a little pointless

Rewatching the hobbit, completely forgot how much Gandalf fucking hates all of them. The constantly losing the one guy he had faith in in the company, Thorin not listening to anything he says ever, them running away from the elf castle in the middle of the night for no reason oh he was fucking sick of them

I wonder what the mentality is like in the capitol for no longer seeing district citizens as just animals for slaughter. It’s said in multiple books that the capitol people consider the people from the districts in an almost subhuman way, in they way they are paraded in the hunger games parades, and washed and primped and prepped. But when a victor wins the games, and are now obviously famous and renowned, do they retain that same subhuman status ? We know Finnick and other victors were bought and sold, but I think that could be differentiated. When Katniss has her first games, she and the other tributes are hosed down and prepped in a fairly open area, with little consideration for their privacy. After she wins the games, I know she retains her prep team and they do dote on her in they would a celebrity, but I wonder how the individual prep for her next games went.

SHANE MOVING AWAY FROM ILYAS KISSES AFTER THEY SAY EACHOTHERS NAMES WHY DONT I JUST DIE

The change that they made with Ilya, because in the book after they each others names, and the whole day really, he tries desperately to play it cool and as nothing (“you like that shit right ?”, “this is nothing”), because he doesn’t want scare Shane off after curating their whole time together, and in the show I think Ilya is a lot more open with wanting him there (cuddling on the couch) and when Shane does get uncomfortable he tries desperately (in his own way) to get him to stay (“Hollander… Hollander…”), he goes back to using last names to try to make Shane more comfortable and he’s so upset when he leaves and at the club
