Glee Rewatch

Attempting to join in on @showchoirblogs rewatch. I am way late to this party, sorry!

Fun fact - Beyond the Kurt scenes, I still haven’t watched 2009 (I can’t quite bring myself to deal with Finn being so obviously absent), so I will be starting off the rewatch with Pilot. There’s a few episodes in the later seasons I missed (508 being the one that also springs to mind), so it’ll be interesting to see them in the context of the show as a whole, now.

I want to particularly focus on the idea of rolemodels while I watch - the adults as rolemodels for the kids, the kids as rolemodels for the adults, and the kids as rolemodels for each other. And, in the end, which rolemodels have the biggest impact on who you become?

Also going to attempt to engage with the other-than-Kurt/Klaine/Blaine storylines. Now we know how it all ends, I hope I can feel secure enough in the destination to enjoy the ride, rather than stress over every episode.

*I haven‘t had much of a chance to read any other posts in the rewatch, so I apologize in advance if I repeat anything which has already been said!

Why did you choose this fic?

I enjoyed writing it. That seems to be my favourite reason for choosing fics for this. But really, among the many things I wanted to write for them, the two of them meeting as kids had always been one I could never quite figure out. So I’m still kind of proud that I actually managed to pull it off.

What inspired you to write it?

I don’t actually really remember. But I had signed up for the Kurt Big Bang, I didn’t really have a plot idea at the time, but figured it would come to me in time. …It didn’t. So when the date approached when we had to send in our plots, I just decided to go with a growing up story because I had always wanted to write one, and at the time picking a specific season (or two) of the year to focus on seemed like a great way to actually get this thing working, and then, amazingly, the rest started falling into place (once I got out the index cards). So it was less inspiration and more dumb luck with this one. :)

What do you like about it?

The friendship. I keep coming back to that. I like writing them as friends, because, well, they are. And I love that about them. It’s one of the things that’s always made me like ‘growing up together’ stories and it’s one of the things I enjoyed most about writing this one.
