Look I just think one of the major differences between Lance and Hunk, at the very least at the beginning of their time on the show, should be that Lance knows how to keep a secret and Hunk absolutely doesn't

Lance is aware of the protective ability of lying and omission and secrets and tries far too hard to play the social game.

Hunk absolutely hates this, he doesn't like having to worry about remembering what is and is not a secret much less keeping ones that he thinks everyone would benefit from knowing and it drives him nuts.

Which is why Hunk has a brilliant system: any time he is told a secret, to get rid of the urge to just constantly be open about it, he fucking sprints to tell Lance immediately.

Lance is the keeper of basically every single person Hunk knows' secrets... this does unfortunately mean that any secret Lance tells Hunk does unfortunately end up being known throughout either the school he attended with Hunk or the castleship immediately so he just keeps his own secrets to himself

Obviously these are things for them both to work on throughout the show fulfil the sort of roles they fulfil later while also having relationships with others for Lance being the spy of the group and Hunk being one of the diplomats of the group where each of these traits in a specific moderation is very important
