Sunset - Sept. 3rd - word count: 362 - @klancemicrofic
Keith sat on top of Black, watching the sun slowly dip under the horizon, Kosmo seated right next to him.
Clouds drifted slowly across the sky, painted in soft hues of oranges and yellows by the sunset, contrasting with the dark blue night already settling overhead.
Just then, a hand gripped onto the edge of his lion’s head.
What the fuck? Keith thought, peering over the edge to see who it was.
Lance McClain stared right back at him.
“Are you going to help me or not, Samurai?” he frowned, trying (and failing) to hoist himself up.
“Yeah, yeah,” Keith rolled his eyes, extending a hand for his friend to grasp on to, pulling Lance all the way up onto Black’s head.
“Thanks, Mullet,” Lance grinned, dusting himself off. “Quite a climb, honestly.”
“That was like… a hundred feet, Lance,” Keith said, looking over at his right-hand man. “Why would you do that?”
Lance shrugged. “I was looking for you.”
“You could’ve contacted me on our new comms, remember?” Keith gestured at the orange screen he had clipped onto his belt. “No need to climb all the way up here.”
“I…” Lance went quiet. “I wanted to see you,” he said, almost like a confession.
“Well…” A beat of silence. “I wanted to tell you something.”
Keith was worried, now. Did Lance find out about his crush on him? What was happening? Would he not be enough for someone again?
“I’m sorry?” Keith asked, bewildered.
Lance flushed, the tips of his ears turning pink. “Not to sound like a schoolgirl, but… I kinda sorta have a crush on you?” he said, phrasing it more like a question than a statement.
“I- uh,” Keith stammered. His face felt like it was on fire. “Me too?” he said weakly. “Sorry.”
“Oh my God,” Lance groaned a moment later. “No. I just- you’re apologizing to me for liking me back? You’re so fucking dumb sometimes, Mullet.”
“Sorr-” Keith was cut off by Lance throwing his arms around his midriff, squeezing the breath from his lungs.
“You’re so lucky I like you, man,” Lance muttered.
