KEY FACTS ABOUT MY PORTRAYAL OF MIDGE OVER THE YEARS

her full name is anne margaret klump, but if you call her anything but midge she’ll kick you

she has two younger twin sisters that attend riverdale elementary

her parents are in the process of getting a divorce and have always had a rocky relationship plagued with arguing over the dumbest things, which is why midge grew up into being such a people pleaser

she’s a gymnast, as well as an avid football and sports follower, to the point where she joins the boys when there’s a game on tv, but moose always puts her in charge of snacks, reason why they end up fighting thourough the whole game

she might not be head cheerleader of the vixens ( cheryl refuses to hand over her crown ), but she’s their ace under the sleeve as the most talented of the squad.

she prefers soccer over football

her style of clothing is very beach girl aesthetic combined with a bit of girl next door and just a tad of chic: denim shorts and mini skirts, crop tops and tank tops with spagetti straps and cowboy boots with her shorts. leather jackets too, though she prefers them denim, but reggie insists she looks hotter in leather.

FOR RIVERDALE BASED THREADS: midge survives the second stabbing attack by the black hood, but is left extremely injured and spends a year off school recovering from the wounds and trauma ( with therapy and counseling to handle her ptsd ). she still refuses to go inside the school’s theatre for weeks after she returns to riverdale high, and because of the scars on her stomach, she stops wearing her trademark crop tops out of self consciousness and the triggering effects seeing them has on her. it’s only with the help of ronnie that she gains enough security to bare her stomach again.

listen i dig reg/ronnie just as much as the next person but why didn’t riversnail give us midge/reg like ?? it’s a classic !

upon looking at Midge’s sullen expression, head buried between her arms resting over the booth’s table, one might assume she’s in the middle of making a life – changing decision ( the thing is, Midge is known to be impulsive in her actions, heart decides before her common sense has time to kick in ). true, she did just tell Moose to take a hike again, so technically, that means she’s ready to go out and mingle with whoever she wants to. And despite what Ronnie claims, going to the movies with Reggie Mantle is not the lowest point she can hit during a bad breakup.

“ I mean, reg is … yeah, he’s something all right – but he’s not as bad as he seems ! ” they have unspoken history that she has never really paid attention to unless she had a fight with Moose ( is she taking advantage of Reggie that way? The thought makes her stomach feel kind of gross ) “ plus, I need to take my mind off that idiot moose – we’re totally over this time ! ”

a pause, she raises her head to look at Veronica’s clearly judging glance, “ and I don’t wanna be home tonight, either – my parents are taking this whole divorce thing like it’s a war or something . ” ( @verohnica )
