Bite has always seen Mulan as transmasc coded, due to her rejection of feminity throught the movie and how she never fit in with the other women yet thrived while at war with men. If not transmasc, Mulan is good representation of a masc/gnc women.

the original point of the post was that it doesn’t matter how much an interpretation, reading or headcanon has to make sense, even when about a possibly trans character. If a trans person relates to a character and sees them as trans in the same way they are, or having the same trans experiences they do, that’s cool and excellent, and we shouldn’t be attacking people over headcanons, especially if someone is only attacking people over transmasc interpretations/readings/headcanons and using their opinions there to only further promote hate of transmascs.

and from something I said in reply to a comment: I think their reading was more hinging upon Mulan’s arc of being viewed as a man and forced to engage in masculinity / hide that she was actually a woman in an aggressively masculine environment, which was a reading I hadn’t thought of before and found quite cool.
