The gaze tends to slide off of Kenjiro. He’s not forgettable, exactly; it’s just that something about his current… state of being is difficult for the living mind to grasp. He just sort of slips through the cracks.

This is why it is so startling to find that a young lady has picked him out of the crowd as it leaves the church that drizzling afternoon–and that she is staring at him with clear, bright eyes, as if trying to decide what exactly it is about him that has drawn her attention.

He shifts through the crowd and approaches her, unable to tear his own gaze away. He stops just shy of her, searching for the right words to say.

“How did you notice me?” he asks eventually.

Cybel keeps an eye on the vessel as it streaks through T'Sau's atmosphere, watching with anxiety. Calculating where it will crash exactly is difficult, but it manages a very close approximation, and arrives at the scene minutes after landing just in time to witness a bipedal lifeform clad in damaged armor stagger from the rubble and collapse on the beach.

Cybel wastes no time. It lopes to the fallen creature's side and bends, testing the hissing gas that escapes its cracked helmet.

Oxygen. A small miracle. It searches for wounds, poking gently, and finds a piece of shrapnel embedded in the creature's leg. A musical warble of concern escapes it, and it sets to work on first aid.

And then the creature begins to stir.

The vessel is strange in make and design–and if Cybel is any judge, it is a long, long way from home.

The prospect is exciting, and protocol must be observed. The lifeforms aboard the vessel must be contacted, protected, offered aid and resources should they be in need of it, for life is so scarce in this universe, so preciously finite; and though the stars are vast and beautiful and full of possibility, they are a merciless place, pure and harsh as diamond.

Cybel contacts the vessel, establishes a tenuous sort of communication. It starts working on a patchy scaffold of language from the small sample of strange noises it receives over the comm link as it spends the next hour boarding its own shuttle, initiating takeoff sequences, and carefully, carefully steering the shuttle into the space adjacent to the interloping vessel. The boarding chute extends and seals. Oxygen floods the chute.

It is time.

Cybel's multiple hearts pump a quickened, rhythmic beat as it traverses the expanse between vessels. It has been so long since contact has been established with another race. It must make a good impression.

It reaches out and taps firmly on the hull of the ship. And it waits.

IN MY HUMBLE ONION basically everyone in the iliad with the exception of a few of the women (briseis for example) is morally reprehensible by todays standards, but i really dont go into the war crimes fandom expecting them to be anything but, and i dont really defend agamemnon on the basis of anything other than the sentiment of "that shit was interesting as fuck ag, do it again!"

IF we're approaching defending him from a "lets measure up how decent of a guy/sympathetic he is" angle, however, all im really saying is that hes not any worse than clytemnestra is (with the thought in mind that clytemnestra treated her surviving children so shittily they felt they had no recourse but to murder her, and also she killed cassandra for like no fucking reason other than being a jilted wife, which doesnt really entitle you to someone elses life)... and that if he didnt care about iphigenia IMMENSELY then she wouldnt have made such a tragic sacrifice–or even really much of a sacrifice at all. because its not a sacrifice if you dont love it and care for it and mourn its loss, you dig? also, how do you defy YOUR LITERAL GODS when they demand a sacrifice of you?

also the burning cities pretty much comes with the territory in greek myth. its a recreational activity for my dudes's enrichment, dont take it from them /j

tldr: agamemnon is cool and i like him and i will go to bat for him on the basis of he didnt really do anything much worse than anyone elses blorbos, and also without him the iliad wouldnt be nearly as interesting. and thats on periodt
