What The Hell. Sure.
What The Hell. Sure.
I was listening to music and the though occurred to me that I really like the idea of Amiya listening to stuff like what I linked as well as the classic stereotypically 'edgy' things like:
Animal I've Become - Three Days Grace
Animal In Me - Solence (this honestly feels like an AK CC song)
Fake It - Seether
Fix Me - 10 Years
I Miss the Misery - Halestorm
Monster - Skillet
Numb - Linkin Park
You're Going Down - Sick Puppies
I don't necessarily think that she would particularly identify with as much as it's just something she really likes for no particular reason. The disparity between her appearance and demeanor and this music is very amusing to me.
I think it would be especially funny if a character like Savage noticed and was concerned how many of these songs were on her personal terminal and had hundreds of replays each.
Ok so the premise of Arknights Endfield is basically "we're tech wizards colonizing a new planet and planting something that may or may not give people terrible diseases".
Bc it's very interesting that in multiple playable characters' data files, there's a note about getting tested for oripathy and coming back negative. Based on the name, I'm guessing it's a condition that comes from exposure to those originium rocks. Kind of shocked that we're not seeing the characters donning protective gear before handling them, as the need to test everyone for the illness before employment with Endfield sounds serious.
Terrans have been living with this rock for pretty much most of their history. Talos-II's situation with Originium is tame compared to Terra. It seems like they have a decent amount of control over Originium growth and harvesting. Maybe.
Oripathy has also been a part of Terran history since Originium was a thing, and shaped it for just as long. It happens to people who get a significant amount of buildup of Originium in their bodies. Also a cause of serious discrimination and thus the entire plot of Arknights.
Whether through just continuous exposure of active Originium or through something like getting shanked with a sharp piece of it, if you hit a tipping point in Originium blood concentration, it then starts to grow on you. Most people have some Originium in their body, it's just that it's in low enough concentrations that they kind of just go inert on their own.
The thing with dead bodies is that it has to be active Originium to infect someone, to be in an energetic state, and it seems like the rapid assimilation and disintegration of a body has the Originium activate. Doesn't help that it turns into a fine powder that can then be easily ingested or inhaled by someone nearby. Originium can be found in different stages of...inertness(?), some are very easy to set off by accident, others are essentially just very hard rocks now.
Tangent aside, it seems like tech surrounding Originium has improved now compared to what we see in Arknights. Oripathy suppressants before, even the best of the best we see in Rhodes Island, seem to be a far cry from what they have in Endfield now.
Other than that, again, it seems like they've managed to get a somehow "tamed" version of the rock, still functions like the original thing, but seems that they have a significant amount of control over it now. Like the Originium Plants are very much a new thing.
Probably also contributes to the change in attitude towards the rock, in Arknights it was both the lifeblood of civilization and the source of a lot of problems, now they lost the latter part, to the point that it's now considered as something of a "friend" of civilization it seems like.
So I've been playing Endfield and reading a lot of the discourse on it. One thing that keeps sticking out to me is everyone clowning on people introducing originium to Talos-II, then some people who then explain that Terra's technology was entirely based around originium. To this end, I just wanna ask What happened to the Aegir? You know, the underwater civilization(s) that made themselves known to the world, had technology at least on par with what we have in Endfield and wasn't based on originium-use, and seemed more than willing to share it? Who ALSO had a space program planned and the main reason it was cancelled was because they had to deal with the seaborne? Are you telling me that no one thought to ask "hey, how about instead of introducing this rock to this planet that makes long-distance communication impossible, causes hyper-disasters every other week, and gives you a debilitating terminal illness if you exist in the wrong place for any length of time, why don't we just go ask those fish people how their generators work and use that instead?" Like they are able to summon BLACK HOLES, what do they have to lose if they share the blueprints to a steam engine.
It's because some MF in an executive position of Endfield Industries was like "mmmm, but i still wanna be able to cast fireball, so we gotta grow the mega-kills-you-dead rock on this planet :3" DOG THE BLOOD OF MILLIONS WILL BE ON YOUR HANDS man am i gonna look stupid of something later comes out and it's like "oh yeah the seaborn ate all aegir cities before EI was made :p"
They might have been too isolationist still at that point, ending up with little to no Aegir tech getting through before the stargate got shut down. For the casual use of Originium, seems like it's the only thing they'd have ready at all in Talos II, especially since their stay there has been rough. It's been the lifeblood of Terra for centuries, it's going to be the most mature tech they'd have. Mature enough that they seemed to have tamed it with cultivation and improved suppressants and maybe PPE, or there's a Priestess-shaped plot twist hiding in there somewhere.
Doesn't help that the Aether and the Blight has made itself the bigger problem.
Fateful encounter
what still fucks me up about babel is the way the doctor goes to the scene of the crime after everything's set in motion, and there's no turning back. they go to the woman they murdered, while she's still bleeding out, while she's cradling the child they rescued, and beg herāyou understand, don't you? why I did it? please understand me. (please forgive me.)
Also thinking about how despite pre-amnesia Doctor being hyped up for years as the perfect cold & calculating mastermind they chose not to take the safest course of action (staying in the control room/running away) because they couldn't stand the idea of not being there. They just went to the crime scene in person when there was no need to so they could have a mental breakdown over their actions, leading to Theresa having the chance to mind wipe them after she killed all the assassins, and in some way it's almost like they WANTED that to happen, they wanted Theresa to punish them. It's so good
Now that you mention it, it seems like Theresa had her little revenge on the assassins as well. They got rid of anything that would connect them to their old life, just to be able to bear the thought of betraying Theresa. But when they finally meet face to face, she recognized every single one of them and told them who they were are. It's the King recognizing her subjects, no matter how insignificant they think they are. It's both a demonstration of how much she cares for her people and a way for her to twist the knife of shame they have in their hearts. They can both feel happy that their King remembered them but also ashamed and horrified that their King knows exactly who committed the ultimate sin.
It is beyond fucked up that running a Sui squad now involves running three (3!) Defenders, unless you want to leave anyone out, which you don't because you believe in theme squads.
Three! That's at least one, possibly three too many! There will never be a decent reason to deploy all of them in the field.
Please HG, stop making Sui Defenders! There are so many classes still un-Suied to explore.
Two of them
Dusk Alter where nothing's different except she can be deployed on any tile and when on a ground tile gets melee-operator targeting and a special attack animation while blocking where she does a lightning fast combo attack on the enemy that kills them unconditionally before going back to her sloppy idle pose.
random bursts of Nian's movie version of Dusk showing through
Maybe I'm just not getting things but Skullshatterer's (and by proxy Reunion's) motives are entirely delusional, right? Like he's got a vendetta against Rhodes Island because they killed his comrades/other infected. The comrades that attacked them first. On his orders. While they're trying to help treat the infected. And then Misha, who saw Rhodes Island getting constantly ambushed is like "y'know he has a point, why did you kill the people actively trying to kill you?"
I'm not going to call Rhodes Island saintly or anything but from the very beginning of what we get to see, Reuinion attacked first in every encounter. Strangely, Talulah seemed the least bothered by Rhodes of the antagonists we've encountered thus far, as of 3-5. It seemed more like a grudging respect. Well, there's W but she is I think a special case.
For the first bit, it's less "Stop trying to kill the people who want to kill you!!!" and more "Why is this even a fight we're having, you do realize that the real enemy are the people you're serving, right?" and they get attacked because they're traitors for merely stopping at treating symptoms, not attacking the source of the disease. Remember that they survived Ursus' labor camps and death squads, they're bound to be pissed at the system. It doesn't help that most of the group has ended up going full extremist. The people who would be more accepting of Rhodes probably left before or during Chernobog, like Mudrock's group or Ethan or Red. That or were like Patriot and his army, devoted to the cause but does not like where the rest are heading.
And man, Arturia would have had such a fun time if she was in this story, she'd think it was her birthday. One note from her and Anastasio would explode on the spot, I think.
Now that I've got all the medals for Stronghold Protocol, I figured I'd share a few tips and tricks I've picked up to help anyone who might be struggling, especially with Core Protocol.
First of all, despite the impression I and others may have given about it, Core Protocol is very manageable. Of course, bullshit rng and the overtuned enemies will claim plenty of attempts, but if you plan properly you can get a few victories quickly enough.
The Pathfinders are easily the most dangerous enemy group, especially in Core Protocol, but they can be consistently countered. Lappland can silence the explosive carts, Manticore and other Ambushers can clear the crowds and destroy carts before they get to the frontline, and Penance can draw and tank the fire from ranged enemies while doing thorns damage back. Penance is also a good counter against the Icefield enemies, so I always have her slotted in as a Tier 5 so I can get her easily if needed.
Getting powerful damage dealers before the bosses arrive is a must. Ulpianus is easily one of the strongest if not the strongest Tier 5, so I highly recommend grabbing him regardless of the enemy. Logos is also always a solid choice. Be sure to be proactive with your placements; killing the bosses is more important than maintaining a defensive line due to how much health they drain.
Ifrit is a very powerful pick due to the layout of most stages, and she performs amazingly with items that trigger on skill use.
This may be obvious to others, but global damage dealers like Decadenza and Goldenglow are excellent even if they have to have an enemy in range to activate their skills; you just need to position them smartly.
Pith's Defense Strategy is easily the best overall, being so versatile it's a go-to pick for tryharding, but the others are still worth using. Don't be afraid to experiment.
The Faction Supplements for Snipers and Karlan Operators aren't worth picking imo unless you've slotted in extra Operators from those factions due to lacking either power or versatility in the base roster. Since you aren't guaranteed to get the Supplement from the Faction you're going for, I'd recommend unlocking their respective Defense Strategies in Foundational Protocol before trying this so you have incentive to use the Operators you've slotted in even if you don't get the right item/Supplement.
You can freely change the skills and modules of all Operators in Stronghold Logistics, even if you don't have the actual Operator upgraded. Be aware though that any Operators you slot in won't have their modules equipped automatically and you'll have to manually do so.
Okay, that's all the advice I can think of. You got this š
You know, with all the rich people who have shown a romantic interest in the Doctor, (SilverAsh, Swire, Whislash, probably more that Iām forgetting) do you ever think that Closureās tried to convince Doctor to become a sugar baby so that they could use the money to help fund Rhodes Island?
I don't know what the cylinders that Crownslayer keeps on her left arm are, but I'm choosing to believe that they're cans of energy drink
Okay well now that I've gotten this screenshot I can see that they have what looks like grenade pins in them, but that's probably there to facilitate speed of opening and drinking
Pulling the can's spoon simultaneously acts as the user releasing the striker that sets off the fuse and as the pull tab for the can, the fuse sets off an explosive charge that pushes out the liquid through the newly opened hole. Whether or not the person who opened the drink can consume it fast enough to not get splashed is irrelevant, the device has done its job.
Okay I bitched a lot about āI donāt want eblana it goes against the ideals of rhodesā blah blah blah but now that itās confirmed sheās the new six star, my main emotion is curiosity. How are they going to justify the Dragon Necromancy The Joker being on payroll. Utterly FASCINATED with the idea of Eblana being an operator because she is a character so utterly unconcerned with morality or redemption. What the fuck happens in that event?
Maybe it's a Talulah situation of sorts, like the Dukes want to deal with her, so the Duke of Wellington sends her to Rhodes Island, knowing full well that Rhodes is enough of a political landmine that it's going to be tricky to get to her and get out unscathed.
Or like another post here says: Maybe besides everything we've seen from her, she's also actually a siscon that finally has free time to let that side of her loose. It'll be funny.
