Buildings in Shioya, Kobe. Pen and ink on paper. 210x148mm. KS-0008
Backstreet behind Kobe City Office. I like the view in this street with the tall buildings crammed in on three sides. All of these buildings are taller than anything I have seen in Edinburgh, and I like that cool understated architecture that was popular in the mid-90s when they just used reflective blue windows on everything and before buildings started to get embarrassingly post-modern. Boats in Shioya Port, Kobe
An old retro apartment in Shioya. The top floor of this apartment was actually one I thought of renting when I first came to Kobe. It was 3 rooms with a balcony for only ¥40,000 per month. With prices like that it is easy to see why so many artists/creative types are moving to the town.

Outside Shioya Station, Kobe. There is a small bar. A chemist, a hair salon, a bookstore and a restaurant. All very Show-era and very cool. #kobe #kobe_pra #shioya #retro
Do you know that famous crossing in Shibuya, Tokyo that you always see on documentaries about Japan? Well, the Motomachi area of Kobe also has a crossing like that except it's more chill and people are better dressed.

A view of Kobe from the sea. I drew this from memory without looking at any pictures. Part of the PR Ambassador program's mission is to help the ambassadors themselves learn more about the city through tours, events, get-togethers and newsletters. My plan is to sit down again, one year from now, and redraw this same scene from memory. Then I can compare the two and see how much I've learned in one year!
