Yeah I just can’t get into male characters. Every time one shows up he’s always just the Male Character to get brownie points and make an obvious epic maleboss so the writer can feel better about themselves. Not to mention they’re always getting in the way of my cute yuri ship. I just rather go focus on women instead. They’re always the more interesting and better written characters than the one random man they decided to shoehorn in.
Since I talk about the difference between history as a hobby and as professional research reasonably often, here are books I think you should read if you want to think more about how history is created:
Time’s Monster: How History Makes History by Priya Satia
Metahistory: The Historical Imagination in Nineteenth-century Europe by Hayden White
Silencing the Past: Power and the Production of History by Michel-Rolph Trouillot
The Past is a Foreign Country by David Lowenthal
Along the Archival Grain: Epistemic Anxieties and Colonial Common Sense by Ann Laura Stoler
Dust: The Archive and Cultural History by Carolyn Steedman
If other people have books they would consider key, please add them. It might be good to start a longer list.
Georg Igger's Historiography in the Twentieth Century: From Scientific Objectivity to the Postmodern Challenge has a useful overview of historiography/is a solid place to start in my opnion
With its innovative format, Debating New Approaches to History addresses issues currently at the top of the discipline's theoretical and met
I think that this collection of essays is really useful. It's designed for undergraduates, so it's very accessible, and it showcases (as per the title) debates between scholars working with the same theories or methodologies. So it models scholarly conversation and disagreement as well as active work.
So a black woman was released from jail five months after she was arrested for "abusing a corpse" because she had a miscarriage in a restaurant bathroom.
Her name is Mallori Patrice Strait, and she is 33 years old. This is her.
I distinctly recall raising concern that this would happen to women in anti-abortion states when this happened to Brittany Watts in Ohio and I distinctly recall pro-lifers saying this wouldn't not lead to women getting arrested for miscarriages.
It's also not lost on me that these two women are black, and pro-lifers spent years arguing that their policies were meant to "protect the black population."
While you all justify Adriana Smith's case in Georgia, I wanna hear the 'pro-life' explanation for this.
I want all the "protect black babies" people and the "abortion is black genocide" people to step forward.
I just want to talk.
"is it possible for a [thing] girl and a [different thing] boy to be in a relationship? 🥺" i'll stop you right there. get a notebook cause i'll only tell you once. men and women are not allowed to date each other
The Lovers of Akrotiri 👩❤️💋👩🐦⬛🌺🌞
Junes illustration is a sweet scene of two Minoan girlfriends, that plays on the saffron gatherer motif but this time with a stylised lily landscape reminiscent of the “Spring Fresco of Akrotiri”. 🐦⬛🌺🌞
Their dresses are based on frescos of women and goddesses from the Minoan city of Akrotiri that was preserved in a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BCE🌋
Defining lesbianism as “non-men loving non-men” has got to be one of the most offensive definitions you could possibly apply to that term. Lesbian attraction has absolutely nothing to do with men. It is attraction between two women. To choose to define that only in relation to men with not even a mention of women is ludicrous. It’s genuinely crazy how much our society centers men to the point that people will bend over backward to find a way to center men in something that inherently excludes them.
Commitment Ceremony, New York City (1989) by Kathy Shorr
THEY DID NOT KILL THE PMS WIFE.
They burned the parliament building and he ran away, leaving her there to die. The protesters rescued her and took her to the hospital. She is alive, despite her husband.
Another politician ran away when protesting was near his home, abandoning his disabled wife. Protesters helped her too, carrying her out of the home and taking care of her.
After the protesting was done they then cleaned up all the damage. They found the looters who took advantage of the protests and forced them to give back everything they stole from businesses.
"a man could never get away with this" I have never seen a man not get away with something in my life
if the MRAs want everything, every ''privilege'' women have, let's start with a tiny little thing called ''consequences''
