is there even a fandom for this
This can't be fucking real oh my god.
craziest thing in the world is how many restaurants have started not including fries or any side whatsoever with their burgers meanwhile the burgers cost the downpayment on a new car. you want $19 for a fucking sandwich and you aint gonna give me even a scoop of coleslaw on the side? you’ve truly lost your fucking mind. i’m filing a class action lawsuit atp
Ummm she's literally sensitive :/
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
There’s nothing scarier than talking or thinking about your parent’s mortality…🦨

Do you know this TV Show Song? #21
I know the song and the show
I know the song but not the show
I know the show but not the song
I may know this
I have never heard this
Ok i never posted a video from tiktok on here but this is hilarious
My favorite parts are:
Jewel: “I lived… sorry guys.”
And
Teryl: “And I didn’t even ascend…”
Okay, I am really obsessed with this joke. I literally reblog it every time I see it.
can you guess my favorite song from the guy
btw the easiest solution to this post is just to ignore the marissa comment. then if we work backwards from the last chapter, and working in non-relative earth time, grace was:
- 55 when he arrived on erid (in relative terms, around 39)
- 45 when he went back for rocky (in relative terms, around 35)
- 32 when the ship launched
- like…27? 28? when the petrova line was discovered. maybe a bit younger than that? building the hail mary probably took 3 years and the mission to go get astrophage from venus took at least a year, maybe more. ok now this isn’t compatible with his comment about being in his "mid-thirties" when he was watching the nasa broadcast but ok whatever, his memories in the early chapters are fucked up by the french amnesia drug or smth
ftr, being in your late 20s and already having a) a PhD b) made enough powerful enemies to have c) been ostracized from microbio and d) built a successful second career in teaching is still insane. but it’s more within the realm of possibility
in conclusion: ryland grace should have been at the club:(
adding some more context as to how crazy this timeline is: i have a phd in chemical engineering in the US (which is presumably where grace got his). it took almost exactly 5 years after a 4-year bachelor degree (in my case this was a 3 year bachelor but the norm is 4). at the school i went to, which is one of the top institutions in the world for biology, a typical phd in microbiology takes at minimum 6 years. that shit is slow. all your research depends on cells growing and they can’t be rushed (much). i know doctoral students in their tenth year. to be a successful middle school teacher at age 28, grace would have had to have flamed out of academia at age like, 25. either he started college way early, graduated college way early, or had a ridiculously short phd. or all three.
i don’t really think weir meant for us to deduce all this—from what’s directly stated in the text, a casual reader would likely come away with the impression that grace is in his mid to late thirties for the bulk of the novel, and I think that’s the intention—but child prodigy grace fits remarkably well as a headcanon, particularly in how much he craves positive attention but shies away from recognition. it would also go some way to explaining how notorious he still is in academia years after he left if he was a genius rising star who then threw his career away in a fit of temper, rather than your average scientist who cursed someone out at a conference (this happens more often than you’d think).
sorry one more thought. i do know two ppl who started grad school at ages 17 and 18 respectively. in theory, in the american school system, if you skip a few grades and take advantage of some states’ PSEO options, it’s very possible to graduate college at 16. so grace starting grad school at like 16/17 isn’t totally unrealistic, and if he had a remarkably successful PhD, he could have graduated around age 22, making his successful middle school teacher career at 28 completely plausible!
still not sure that’s what weir intended, though. also the linda thing has to be ignored for this to work unless you wanna give grace an insanely fucked up backstory

we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
torrents work like this
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
