11 months. It's been an honour.
is it rude to say that if you wont take the art someone else will? you're totally valid for your reason.
however while morals are great and all mine say 'oh you're the aggressor country? and this person wants nothing to do with you? cool. free art. thanks.'
sucks to be them i guess. but hey, free art yippeee.
I think you (and honestly, most ppl who didn't experience war, obv) don't really understand how trauma response works and the terrible cocktail of mixed emotions that come with things like this. Should I delete tracks of ru bands that have no lyrics and haven't been active in many years thus in no way contribute to the aggressor economy and I have lots of formative memories with? Probably not. It doesn't change the painful tingle I felt everytime they crossed my playlisy, though. The memories I made with them tangled in gruesome hindsight. Memories made in the streets of the home I cannot return to bc of the war. There's a mirriad of things like this, like shards of glass in my very fibers, cutting into me every time they cross my mind. The severed connection, broken friendships, families torn to shreds in so so many ways. It's not a voluntary response.
So, no, it's not "free art, lol"
Whenever I think about the fan art I drew for russian creators, I feel emptinеss.
It disgusts me to look at my own old drawings, into which I poured so much effort and joy as a teenager.
I loved singing songs in that language with my sisters around the campfire to the sound of a guitar, but now they are all dark, dirty stains on those warm memories.
Every time, when i see and automatically read russian text ( yeah suprise this is my first language bc colonialism) my inner voice litteraly causes phantom pain to my brain.
Poems, letters, fanfiction, notes in the margins of my sketchbook, diary entries, scribbles in the margins—everything I wrote for myself over the years, everything poisoned by what they did. And continue to do.
I don’t give a fuck about the fate of Tanyusha from rostov, who feels so sorry about how things turned out
You’re sad and you feel guilty, Tanyusha; you want to stifle that feeling by offering me a piece of art, because "красата спасьот мір"?
Swallow it.
Your piece of shit won’t heal me.
Stay in rostov and don’t become part of my shattered, "safe" world—illuminated by the flashes of ballistic missiles.
"Free art, yappi"? Nah, its not.
P.S.

ВОТ ІМЄННА
please read this even if you're not indian. especially if you're not indian.
you've seen the jokes. india is "dirty", indians are "everywhere", why don't they fix their own country. ok. let me tell you why, and what's happening right now while nobody's watching.
first, the history you skipped: britain ruled india for two centuries and drained it. economist utsa patnaik's research estimates around $45 trillion in today's money was taken. the india that got independence in 1947 was one of the poorest countries on earth. every "why is india like this" question starts there. you don't get to profit off a robbery and then mock the crime scene.
now, what's happening RIGHT NOW:
in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.
and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.
and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.
it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:
• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.
• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.
• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.
• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.
• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.
• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.
and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.
what i'm asking:
if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.
if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.
india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.
we can still save her. but only loudly.
reblog. share. don't scroll past.
I love environmental storytelling
Its fucking hieroglyphs with you people
Oh so when russia bombs dozens of our warehouses, post logistics centers, tech storages, factories, that's what? Not terrorism?
But no, we are Ukrainians, so our losses aren't worth mentioning. We aren't human enough for that.
Russia hit a civilian grain ship under Guinea-Bissau banner, killing five.
Will sashameetsrussia write about that? I highly doubt.
Link.
Guys I love you all
I turned out to be okay! My city and my neighborhood not so much though.
I don't feel okay mentally right now so I'll be brief: on the night between the 18th and the 19th of July there was a massive ballistic air raid on Kyiv, my city. I think a total of 50 ballistic missiles were launched towards my city and, as you may know, there are no ways to defend ourselves against them at the moment. There are Patriot air defense complexes, but we don't have any ammunition for them.
With ballistic missiles there's only 1-3 minutes from the moment they're launched to the moment they hit the target. Tonight's targets were shopping malls and civil apartment blocks. Including my very neighborhood and my very street.
We had no time to run to the shelter (an underground parking lot of the building next door) so we huddled in the hallway of our flat, away from the windows. The explosions were so so loud, I heard the glass in the windows shake from the explosion wave. For a second I thought the missiles hit our building directly or broke the windows.
I made my family run in our pajamas in the SHORT break of 2 minutes between the missile launches. That's how bad it was. I noticed my mom, my dog and my sibling getting ahead and thought to myself that if I died and they got to safety first, I would be happy. We all got to the shelter and could barely handle the shock.
I felt like I would never ever ever sleep or eat again, that I never wanted to do anything in my life ever again.
My street is a short one, around 20 buildings in total. A missile landed 300 meters away from our home and all apartment blocks except ours got their windows blown out. A newly reconstructed historical building burned down. Our building was okay only because other buildings took the shockwave on themselves.
My street, my home, the place I love so so much...
I just found the funniest font ever
Like. What is this. Why is this. Who is the target audience of this?
Pro-Tip: If you'd like for your diaspora-born child to be fluent in your language, don't shame them for speaking your language with the local accent of wherever they were raised
And don't let others shame them either, including your own fucking relatives, especially if it's some monolingual fuck doing the shaming
A few days ago I had an all too realistic nightmare.
,
i swear to god we will all live until the day when russians will be eating their ballistics instead of food while we will be at peace
this russian attack on kyiv didn't utilise drones or slower missiles, only ballistics and hypersonic missiles i.e. the things that reach kyiv in a few minutes if not under a minute. everything to try and kill more. this isn't even terror anymore because terror has a goal. this is just genocidal frothing at the mouth at the sight of blood and death
Fucking russians and their fucking ballistics
Again? Again. This time it’s closer to me, my windows are shaking
Thirteen ballistic missiles in twenty minutes so far, all towards Kyiv
russia is a terrorist state
About twenty missiles now?
Actually twenty one, another one launched while I was typing that
So far there’s a damaged residential building, a shopping mall, some cars
This night is loud as fuck, it’s been a while since I’ve heard explosions this close
After some explosions, Lukianivska metro station in Kyiv was damaged again. A metro station, you know, underground, where people try to hide from the attacks.
It is not a fucking military object, it is a fucking bomb shelter that was already damaged many, many times before.
Also I’ve lost count of missiles by now, the amount is closer to thirty by now, I guess
More missiles, fucking hell
A supermarket and some more residential buildings were damaged
russia must burn
Non quality analytics: it's fucking nuts in Kyiv rn
Up to 40 ballistic missiles and zircons (some shit of ballistics) in a span of half an hour. Explosions are fucking everywhere.
do people unironically think that disintegration of russia is even slightly realistic. just the demographics alone make it impossible
I’m not sitting here manifesting some fantasy map where ruzzia splits into 30 tiny countries. I honestly don't care if they officially break apart on paper. I just want the absolute bare minimum for ruzzia: complete internal chaos, civil unrest, and finally just to fuck off out of Ukraine for good. I want them to experience the same hell they have brought to Ukraine. If ruzzia disintegrates in the process — yay, bonus!
And do you remember that massive authoritarian regimes totally never collapse out of nowhere? It was all in the history. Кучма: Та це ж було вже!
It’s like people completely forgot about the USSR. Did anyone actually think the Soviet Union was going to fall apart? Literally nobody in the late 80s saw it coming. The CIA, top political scientists, and the Soviets themselves all thought the USSR was basically invincible right up until the exact second it vanished. Besides, it’s not like modern ruzzia shares any similarities with the late USSR.
The Wars: Afghanistan vs. Ukraine
The USSR: Spent 9 years in Afghanistan with a peak force of around 115,000 troops, losing roughly 15,000 soldiers. It was a massive national trauma that helped shatter the entire Soviet system.
Modern ruzzia: In Ukraine, they've managed to rack up nearly 1.2 million casualties (killed and wounded) in just about four years. They are losing much more people than the Soviets did in a decade, all for the glorious prize of advancing a few dozen meters a day. Absolute masterclass in military strategy.
The War Budget
The USSR: By the late 80s, the Soviets were spending an insane 15% to 20%+ of their GDP on defense. They completely suffocated the civilian economy just to stockpile weapons while their citizens queued for basic groceries. I remember this time because I was born in 80s.
Modern ruzzia: Officially, they claim defense spending is around 6% to 7.5% of GDP right now. But if you look at intelligence estimates, the real number is pushing 10%, sucking up massive chunks of their entire state budget. They are actively overheating their entire economy just to keep the meat grinder running
The Oil Addiction
The USSR: Propped up entirely by high oil prices in the 70s. When prices crashed in the 80s, the empire's bank account emptied out, and the whole facade crumbled. They had zero backup plan.
Modern ruzzia: They're funding this apocalyptic adventure by selling discounted oil to anyone who will take it, all while Ukrainian drones are casually knocking up to 40% of their refining capacity offline.
So yeah, the USSR at least paced themselves before burning the house down. Modern ruzzia looked at the Soviet collapse and apparently thought, "We can do this way faster, and way dumber."
there are a few people actually whose blogs just look like this to me and i hope they know i still love them
In other news russians will compare getting blocked on social media to... Holocaust?
Every russian working on killing us is just a mini putin. Not living breathing people making conscious choices.
Putins telling me and San (prev) and other Ukrs being Ukr on main that we're nazis, that we should kill ourselves, that we're just being mean to russkis. Little putins hitting the trigger twice on missile spam, once for the first responders to get there and again to take those first responders out.
Hundreds of thousands of dead putins sitting on the border cause russia doesn't want them back for failing in their mission to destroy Ukraine and rape and torture every Ukr.
Hundreds, thousands of putins stealing Ukrainian children and indoctrinating them into 'russia is best. russia is king. Ukraine is nothing'.
Hundreds, thousands of putins looting Ukr artworks and artifacts and just plain old every day items and sending them back to the putins back in russia.
Thousands of mini putins bragging to their families about the terror and murder they are inflicting on innocent civilians.
Every Western country, you condemn their military and normal every day people. Why is russia different? Why do you get to use "we don't like our gov't either" for a country like russia where they have shown, in droves, how much they like being total orcs?
