Dale Hansen is a fucking treasure. He admitted he was a childhood victim of sexual abuse in the hopes that it would encourage others to come forward and seek help. He has been an ardent supporter of scholar-athletes and of gay players in the NFL and of trans athletes.

Dale Hansen is AMAZING. If you’ve seen the gifset of him defending Mack Beggs, the Texas state champion transgender male wrestler, then you already know what a great guy he is. Sports journalism is FULL of white guys, and more of them ought to be more like Dale, standing up to amplify the messages being initiated by sports journalists of color.
