help me find a solution to play my nancy drew mac games

Hi everyone! I haven’t played any Nancy Drew games in a while and re-downloaded my digital copy of SAW I bought off Amazon. Even though the installer and everything worked, whenever I try to open the game the application immediately closes and give me a “Nancy Drew - Shadow at the Water's Edge quit unexpectedly.” message. No matter how many times I try to reopen, this happens. I assume it’s because my computer software and computer itself might be too new for the game (I have a Macbook Pro 2018 model with OS High Sierra 10.13.4), but I have seen other people that are still able to run it on their own (newer) mac laptops. If anyone has come across this problem and/or knows a solution please let me know! I really haven’t found a solution by searching for it online. Thank you!!!!!!
