people are naturally just nervous around ghost when they don’t really know him, so whenever he tells one of his jokes, he’s met with forced laughter seemingly meant to appease him, and that in itself he finds funny. so he starts to tell really, really bad jokes on purpose. ones he knows are terrible and unfunny just to see if there’s a limit to what soldiers will continue to nervously laugh at.

so far, that limit has yet to be reached. then soap and gaz, the bastards, only make it worse when they start pretending to laugh hysterically whenever ghost is testing out a new joke, wiping imaginary tears from their eyes and saying good one, lt, your best yet, which only serves to make those other soldiers more nervous about ghost’s jokes, and more susceptible to fake laughter.

ghost isn’t done yet, though. he’s not stopping until he either puts an end to the forced laughs or manages to elicit a real one.
