sometimes i spend hours at a time adding to my almost 20 page long (and counting) google doc of chinese characters that were pictograms and ideogrammic compounds in ancient china.

the thing with nickloon is that even if you dont ship it nickel has been weird abt and obsessed w balloon since s2 both as a subject of his insecurities and also someone he wished to be close with and someone he admired. it was even more so highlighted after introduction of clover. season 3 was cracked for what it did with their characters and seeing people either hating it (valid i guess) or brushing it off (why) is strange to say the least.

This one was inspired by a piece written by Nick Barry for Neuroclastic, where he writes so eloquently about his experiences as a nonspeaker who was often misunderstood and misrepresented by the adults around him. https://neuroclastic.com/privacy-nonspeaking-nonverbal-nonspeaker-autism-autistic/

I’ve depicted a child with an AAC device here as a visual indicator that he is nonspeaking, but it’s important to also be aware of all the kids and adults who have no such outlet, as was Nick’s experience for most of his life. Also, even if your kid does speak, be careful not to do this to them either. All too often, we’re told about the worst part of our kid’s day before anything else, and then we feel obligated to “do something about it” at home, so we make that the focus of our after school conversations with our kids.

Don’t fall into this trap. Ask the teacher (or whomever) to communicate with you about these things in a notebook or through messaging instead, and make sure you pay more attention to the parts of your kid’s day that THEY want to tell you about.

I think a lot of the people who say “autism isn’t a disability” have entirely misunderstood what disability is.

Being disabled isn’t always severely impacting, you don’t have to be a complete tetraplegic to have a disability.

Being disabled can be having mild nearsightedness, and wearing contacts to correct it. It can be having ADHD, and using regular alarms to keep you on track. It can be having autism, and finding it hard to make friends.

i’m probably overreacting with all of this but i’m just so fucking tired of @ii-neg-confessions…

this blog is filled with outdated or misinterpreted information, vague, preachy “criticism”, harassment, etc.

mod mil goes out of her way to make themself look better by answering asks that criticise XEM with guilt tripping, dodging the original question, or giving really vague/underdeveloped counterpoints which don’t add any weight to their argument whatsoever. xe herself clearly doesn’t know how to handle criticism without coming off as a bigger asshole than they already are — one reason why she ignores asks with arguments they physically cannot think of a reasonable response to.

admittedly, i have been a bit immature, sending in a slew of asks in bursts of rage, but the way xe handles “calling out” mistakes of the show and its creators, criticism towards the show and herself, it really frustrates me. you can dislike ii all you want, i really don’t care — i myself have many issues with the show — but there is no reason to behave so toxically to a community and group of creators who, ultimately, haven’t done anything wrong. (they’ve made they’re fair share of mistakes, but as seen with things like paintbrush’s arc in season 2 and how they handled the poor taste “jokes” with them in season 1, they know how to fix these mistakes, and have very clearly grown since then.)

i don’t need mil to address anything, or for her to deleted their blog or kill xemself or whatever (seriously, if you’re sending DEATH THREATS to anyone, you need to reevaluate your life choices), but i really want them to address this one ask i sent xer, because the hypocrisy of the transphobia thing has been REALLY pissing me off.

i’m going to go out on a limb here and say the only reason you went back on your statement is because you got backlash over it.

the truth of the matter is that you’re a hypocrite and a transphobic peice of shit. i have nothing against people who dislike ii, i have my own gripes with it too, but every single thing you say about ae, about ii, and about people who like the show is VILE and UNNACEPTABLE.

also, for someone who seems to be so adamant about their stance that people SHOULD be critical of others, you sure do get defensive when people give you flack for being an asshole! i wonder why that is?

(i’ll admit, some of my phrasing is hypocritical too… i am against her toxicity (and toxicity in general) but i came off as pretty toxic here too. but, again, i was really pissed off when i wrote this…)

so yeah. i’ll leave you alone after this but god, address the transphobia please.
