Colors of POSTAL 2

Decided to make some color palettes for P2 while looking at what makes the game look the way it does.

- and how different it is from P4, which to me is very oversaturated without a coherent palette. Though I wonder how much was done with purpose and how much is just tech limitations from when P2 came out. While exploring in Postal 4, I thought how different the vibe is, only some parts match it, specifically the hills and nature in general. Even then, it doesn't match fully, as for example the trees' leaves and grass are very bright green, instad of a muted one or straight up a dark yellow tone like in P2 (in P4 it feels like it's on the cusp of an unnatural, turquoisy green), but it still does look nice in some angles, examples:

The fog is also helping a lot in these. But I cannot say the same about the rest, even if far away you can see the sky having some purplish hues, P2 just has that constant golden hour feel to it and the overal lighting feels more experimental rather than having just a huge spotlight sun in a blue sky and white led lamps in interiors. Then the actual city is just way too colorful, the grafitti and stuff like the scooters can be an eyesore even if the designs by themselves look good. What I'm saying, P4 is missing a piss filter like P3 and Breaking Bad a nice light filter similar to P2 emulating a golden hour or at least some more specific palette (rather than the plain lighting with bright base colors).

It's also why thursday and friday in P4 are my favorite, thursday starting with a much darker stylized lighting and friday having the red apocalyptic hues!

Note to P2 - I didn't use the reds in the menu as part of the palettes, I feel like the bright reds are meant to stand out the most to both show the menu better and also the text which you can see in the screenshot with the santa hat. I also kept that in on purpose, as it really pops out and looks out of place! In P4 i feel that way about a lot of items unfortunately (the bright blue tarp, neon colored scooters, eyesore green cacti...)

Also this is just a small sample, but for example I noticed the lack of bright blue, the one in the sky is milder and the rest are usually just smaller items. There's a lot of blue in Lucky Ganesh for example, but it is an enclosed area with a specific feeling to it. The shelves are full of colorful items, yet they still have a nice color palette (look at that lovely green-yellow) and go well with the black & white flooring and neutral ceiling.
