For context, it's based on a conversation I overheard at a crepe shop. My mind immediately leapt to post-canon thiefshipping.

When Luisa opened up c0mms, I jumped at the opportunity to ask her to draw this. 🤭

Amongst the many other things, I think my major reason to be so in love with tendershipping is what's being implied by the story.

They're a foil to puzzleshipping, yes, they do not directly talk to each other and Ryou is a host rather than a partner, sure, but the fact still remains that if they're a foil to them, it means they're also extremely similar in other ways.

Simply put, just like Yugi and Yami, they're made for each other. They were destined to meet and as Bakura said himself, Ryou is the perfect host for him. And sure, one could dismiss it by saying that this is the case due to Ryou's pliable mind, after all he does let Bakura do as he pleases, but since they're the other side of the coin for puzzleshipping, then this has to go deeper.

And to me, that's what makes it so interesting.

Because if you keep that in mind, you'll start to catch on many little details about Ryou and to see some major traits from a different angle. Now it's not just cause he's dumb that he keeps putting the damn Ring back on, it's not just a funny bit him smiling and asking the others to touch his wounds, his occult deck is not just for a funny contrast with his appearance.

Ryou is... Really fucking weird, actually and if you follow the manga, that's even more blatant. What do you mean he wasn't horrified by discovering Bakura had essentially killed all his bullies/"friends" and trapped them inside his dioramas? What do you mean he wasn't scared shitless of wearing the Ring after the spirit tried to hurt his new friends?

Ryou is the perfect host for Bakura because he's a little freak with pretty privileges and a slightly wonky moral compass and the fact this is never outwardly stated but left to the reader's imagination is what I find truly compelling.
