Caine self-care!
Mother's Day can be a painful reminder, so here's a salute to all the kids and adult children who grew up with absent mothers, angry mothers, negligent mothers, abusive mothers, overly-critical mothers, codependent mothers, overwhelmed and struggling mothers, mothers who ignored your cries for help, mothers who sacrificed your happiness to placate others, mothers who tried to do better but failed, and mothers who didn't try quite hard enough.
And to every child and adult who has a complicated relationship with their mother or caretaker--it's okay to feel conflicted. It's okay to feel hurt and love and resentment and pain and sympathy and longing and guilt bundled up into one big tangled ball. It's okay to struggle to reconcile the bad memories with the good ones that simultaneously exist. It's okay to be angry about the ways your parent failed you, and also aware of their personal struggles, and the way their parents in turn failed them. It's okay to recognize that you were loved but also that you were treated unfairly, unkindly. Contradictions are the natural state of the world. Multiple truths coexist. It's okay to be conflicted.
Parents are humans. Human relationships are complicated, and cannot be summarized by a greeting card. Wherever you are coming from, I hope your future holds healing and love, love, love.
Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to everyone who had to raise or reparent themself. You should never have been put in that position, but I'm proud as hell of you for surviving. You deserve a bouquet of flowers and a box of sweets and to be celebrated and have your struggles acknowledged.
Hello old friend, I sent you out there years ago and you went and spread a lot of good karma, I just need your favour again, help me find some work 🧡
I couldn't resist

What game has the best art style?
Feed your dashboard by answering my question, blogger.
I don’t think there’s an objective answer to that - an art style should reflect whatever the game is about, or what message/meaning/themes it’s going for.
But I guess I’m fond of cel shading, like in The Wind Waker? It tends to come off as ‘timeless’ in most use cases.
A black envelope has arrived, written on it in golden ink is “Clotted Cream Cookie”.
When opened it reveals a card, a picture of Black Sapphire Cookie in a black Christmas sweater with purple, gold and white snowflakes on it, wearing a black Santa hat with white fur trim, standing and smiling under a streetlamp in the snow at night, the moon and stars visible in the sky.
When the card is opened it begins to play a recording of Black Sapphire Cookie singing a festive tune and inside is a simple:
“Happy holidays,
Black Sapphire Cookie”
@running2revelation
He knows he sits there too long, flipping the card open and closed again and again, a steady warmth building in his chest every time the tune repeats.
When Clotted Cream finally convinces himself to set it down, he slumps forward over his desk, forehead leaning against clasped hands as he chuckles dryly. “… This is pathetic.”
Nevertheless, one card calls for another, and it seems a trip to the stationary shop has just become the day’s priority.
… Right after he puts the card somewhere for safe keeping.
My wife @kyllingtyme's Cookiesona, Jumbleberry Cookie (not to be confused for Bumbleberry Cookie)
My wife pointed out that the likely reason White Lily Cookie didn’t recognize Burning Spice Cookie was probably because she’s spoken to all of her friends about their respective Beast encounters… except for Golden Cheese Cookie.
“Kya ha ha haa~~”
Practically vibrating with excitement, Candy Apple Cookie - costumed in a pretty red and white suit, a la Black Sapphire - scaled up to one of the balconies overlooking the ballroom, a comically sized t-shirt cannon slung across her shoulders.
Snapping her fingers, she commandeered use of both Black Sapphire’s spotlights and microphone.
“Good evening, my crispy Cookies!” She squealed, her voice clipping briefly. “Since Black Sapphire put so much effort into this little soirée of his, I figured I’d lend him a hand in kickin’ up the fun!” Hopping up onto the railing, she swung the cannon around, aimed at the chandelier, and—
CRACK! KA-POW! BOOM!
— As soon as the payload struck the flames, the rocket burst into… a bunch of Shadow Milk branded treat bags?
“HAPPY HALLOWEEN, YA FLITHY ANIMALS! KYA HA HA HA~!”

“When was the last time you slept?” - PV to SM
Shadow Milk looked up at the sky, contemplating what would upset Pure Vanilla the most… “Eleven days, give or take.”
Pure Vanilla winced, edging closer to his counterpart. “Oh, I’m sorry, Shadow Milk. Has the room been too hot, or too cold? Or perhaps it’s the bedding itself?”
Though, he had a feeling the actual problem was a bit more… emotional, in nature - but bringing up nightmares immediately was a sure way to have his counterpart clam up entirely.
Aw, look at him all worried and doting! Almost cute.
“Sleep is for the weak, and I am not weak, thus I don’t sleep,” Shadow Milk shrugged with a wink, “Surely you knew that?”
Pure Vanilla frowned softly, a little huff escaping him as he reached out to take ahold of Shadow Milk’s sleeve puff. “You may not require as much sleep as the average Cookie, but you must remember that this dough of yours is fresh, not yet tempered by time.”
He gave a gentle tug, trying to coax Shadow Milk closer into his arms. “Besides, rest is good for the mind; helps to keep the ideas flowing.”
“…” He hated when Pure Vanilla made good points, “Yeah well, it won’t get tempered if it doesn’t go in the fire at all, y’know?”
He tensed as Pure Vanilla tried to pull him in, a half growl sneaking out before he yielded to the other cookie, “You say that as if the ideas ever stop flowing.”
“True - but trying to rush it will only leave you scorched.”
Noting the growl as well as the lack of resistance, Pure Vanilla adjusted his hold into something encircling yet loose, arms resting feather-light around the blue Cookie’s waist. “Oh I assure you, I am aware that there is never a dull moment in here,” He knocked his forehead gently against Shadow Milk’s, grinning. “But there’s a difference between usable ideas and intrusive ones, hmm?”

Ya know, I don’t think he did - he seems a bit busy summoning spectral Cream Wolves from the ether and making the dumbest face I’ve seen in a hot minute.

Shadow Milk lay stretched out on his luxurious Vanillian bed. It wasn’t quite as nice as his one in the Spire, but it had the bonus of being earned through deception!
And now he just had to wait - surely his presence alone would start drama with the rest of Pure Vanilla’s allies. He couldn’t wait to watch the infighting! Oh, this was gonna be soooo good!
It wasn’t terribly long - just enough for one extremely nervous maid to drop off snacks and fresh towels - before Pure Vanilla Cookie was knocking gently at the door, smile clear in his voice as he called out. “Shadow Milk Cookie? Are you in, my friend?”
“I don’t know, am I? Come in and find out, paaaal!” Shadow Milk grinned, snacking on the jellies that maid brought. They’re not the worst thing he’s ever put in his mouth but he’ll have to let his “friend” know his tastes.
Chuckling quietly, Pure Vanilla eased the door open, ducking briefly to slip inside. “Ah - I had thought, perhaps, you’d gone for a walk in the gardens,”
Shutting the door behind him, Pure Vanilla approached the other, looking terribly pleased. “After all, I heard word that Candy Apple Cookie was out poisoning the flowerbeds - I had assumed you would be with her.”
“Nah, I figured I’d stick here for today, long journey and all,” Shadow Milk shook his head, sitting up and crossing his legs.
“Candy Apple? Huh,” He had told them to play as good as they could… but that didn’t really sound like Candy Apple’s usual M.O. More likely that Black Sapphire was trying to get the brat in trouble - she had caused a lot of problems for him back in the Spire and Black Sapphire wasn’t above a little revenge.
“I’m sure she’s just making space for some of my special additions! I’m thinking at least a dozen statues of yours truly!”
Pure Vanilla nodded, seemingly unbothered. “The gardens have gotten a bit overgrown, and I think it’s a wonderful idea to add a bit of your flare to the castle grounds. This is your home too, after all.”
He shifted, leaning his staff against the wall and gesturing to the edge of the bed. “Do you mind if I sit? I’d like to talk with you about our plans, moving forward together.”
“Don’t get it twisted! This is not my home - I’m staying here for the time being as your friend to keep an eye on you in these dangerous times,” The Beast huffed, nose in the air, before shifting back to a smile, “But I’m glad you agree that place could use a little more flair!”
As Pure Vanilla brought up his purpose here and asked to sit, Shadow Milk rolled his eyes, “I mind immensely.”
Pure Vanilla sighed fondly, holding up his hands in a small shrug. “Right, of course - my apologies, Shadow Milk.”
Tilting his head thoughtfully, Pure Vanilla turned and grabbed one of the chairs from the small tea table, pulling it over to sit beside the bed instead. “I hope this is an acceptable solution, then?”
“Sure, sure, so what did you wanna talk about?” Shadow Milk asked, flipping so he was lying on his belly now, facing Pure Vanilla and kicking his legs.
Pure Vanilla reclined comfortably in his seat, hands folded in his lap - he’d look downright serene, if not for the fiddling of his fingers to give away his nerves.
“Well, I sent off letters to the other Ancients, requesting yet another open-minded meeting, so they should be arriving within a few days,” His eyecings opened just a touch, focusing as best he could on the fuzzy blue shape on the bed. “I was curious as to how involved you wanted be, with the meeting and explanations. I can understand, after all, if you are not yet ready to talk so openly about everything.”
Hmmmm… front row seats at the cost of having to deal with Pure Vanilla’s actual friends. If he got attacked by one of them… what would Pure Vanilla do? Oh, he couldn’t not test that!
“I’ll meet your other friends - they probably wouldn’t trust your judgement without seeing it for themselves. Seeing is believing, after all!” Unless you’re dealing with a master of illusions, of course.
Pure Vanilla smiled brightly, eyecings scrunching shut once more. “Oh, wonderful - I agree, it’ll be better to present a united front. I love my friends dearly, but they can all be rather… overprotective, from time to time.”
He paused a moment, summoning a quill and a few sheets of paper, now balanced in his lap. “Did you want to assist me in readying the castle? Perhaps with the decorations? You are very talented in that area, after all.”
“Paranoid, Pure Vanilla, I think the word you’re looking for is paranoid. Some much, much more than others!” Shadow Milk laughed with a casual wave of his hand.
“Oh, how considerate of you, friend! You know me so, so, sooo well!” He clapped his hands together, “I still have some time before I need to get started on that though, right? I can take today to rest, yes?”
Pure Vanilla gave a noncommittal hum in regard to the first comment; it wasn’t a completely incorrect statement, after all.
“Oh yes, of course, Shadow Milk; it’ll be at least two days before anyone arrives, I’m sure.” He assured, making a few quick notes. “You’ve been through quite a lot recently, so I’d say a rest day is definitely in order. Is there anything I can get for you?”
