Sewing Kimono - Harder than it looks!
You might think that it would be easy to sew kimono - straight lines of a squared-off garment. But....you’d be mistaken. Here’s an article by a woman who’s quite experienced with kimono about a school in Tokyo where she’s started from scratch.
Here’s the link to the article: https://japan-forward.com/kimono-style-learning-the-secrets-of-garments-made-the-japanese-way/
Enjoy!
Traditional Japanese gardens have their own beauty, of course, but here are some flower gardens that might be worth the visit as well.
Next time you’re in Kyoto and feeling adventurous (and a bit romantic) - take this train and boat trip! I’ve done it several times and it’s always a great way to spend a sunny day.
We love a vintage vibe....so this museum is on our list for the next time we visit Tokyo!
A few weeks ago we offered a collection of kinchaku purses (drawstring pouches) and were tickled to find this video about kinchaku mochi - with a toothpick as its drawstring. Looks yummy. Go Miki!
With Father’s Day just around the corner, lets see what a typical day is like for a single dad in Japan.
Take a forest bath and rejuvenate yourself!
