"Oh, V! Come in!" he hears your voice before he could even knock.
When he opens your door and passes the threshold of your home, a scent heavy in the air that brings odd nostalgia crashes through him.
Every table surface was littered with candles. Shelves, full of old, worn, well taken care of books, jars upon jars of different smaller crystal, gem, and mineral varieties. Your bay window was overflowing with plants; some he didn't even recognize.
Closing the door behind him politely, he hears a very familiar sound in another room, being a caretaker of many animals; he calls your name, to which you reply; "Hi!" your chipper voice comes from that room.
Then, an animal that might not normally be considered...'pet material', wanders into that doorway, peering his direction.
"How're you?" he hears your voice, less muted, "Sorry, it's messy. I warned you, though, didn't I?" you say. "Yes, you did. All is fine." he assures, gazing back at the animal, perplexed. "Go ahead, find a seat! Gotta get something." you tell him. The animal heads off back into the room.
He glances away and about the area, soon finding a place to settle down. There's a thunk, a rattle, then a clatter, followed by footsteps more human in nature where the animal wandered off to.
Just as you emerge from the room, a small chest in your arms, he could almost swear he saw an alien, foreign glow in your eyes, only for a brief second before you lift your gaze to look at him.
He hears you speak to him; about what was needed to help guide him to where his mark was hidden. Plants' names that were mostly foreign to him, only mugwort and rosemary being familiar. Minerals like obsidian, fluorite, and moonstone. What scents you'd need to combine between incense and candle depending on various factors about his mark, moving to and fro around the room-and sometimes, he swears he sees the animal he'd seen earlier in his peripherals; by the bay window, the shelves. Over the tables, some counters. Yet when his gaze followed, he only saw you, entirely human.
You continue on, about the virtues and vices of required spells, a distant fuzzy tingle jumbling his thoughts, which he doesn't even notice, until you ask him; "You okay, V?"
The question repeats itself in his mind a few times. With the heaviness of this, mind fog, looming over him, he'd almost said he was fine. But he was aware enough to know; "I feel....odd." he trails, thoughtful, honest.
His current state was not normal. If anything, it was rather perplexing. "Oh! The cards said you were sensitive, but I didn't think you were this much." you say, approaching him. "Here, I can help-just hold still, 'kay?" you tell him, and he nods.
Not a moment later, he finds your palms on either side of his face, your lips pressed to his forehead. The intimacy of the gesture has him tensed, muscles pulled taut from surprise.
Not just surprise of being touched, kissed-but also from the clarity that hits him like a truck the moment you pull away. To be fair, he did expect something along the lines of the former in visiting you, as you were shameless in your endeavor to court him on the server.
The earlier blanket of fuzziness was gone, without a trace, as if it had never imposed upon him in the first place. And with that clarity, came sudden mortification.
For a few moments, he loses composure, unused to being the recipient of such things; you touched his face, you actually kissed him, how did your lips feel, again-
"Sorry, though really not sorry." you chime cheekily. "Thats the least...invasive way, I guess?" you shrug, "There are other ways, but I didn't know if you'd be comfortable with them, and I was kinda panicking because I didn't how far along to limbo you were." you explain.
His fingers flex, earlier tenseness gradually melting away. "Other ways?" he inquires, though he didn't really mean to, if he was honest. "Two kisses. On your temples, or," you grin your usual coquettish grin, pressing your index fingers on your temple, "Here, once, is how I eat it." lowering only one to your lips, and he inhales sharply as his mind wanders; eat what?!
You pad off, laughing, knowing; "The Veil from a curse I conjured up to poison that cheating bastard I mentioned online before you came, remember I said I was working on their comeuppance?" He remembers.
Thus, not a big deal.
"Who's mind is in the gutter, now, handsome?" you tease from the other room, rummaging about.
He sighs deeply as he leans back, pointedly staring outside the bay window, resting a thumb and index finger on his warm cheekbones, taking a moment to regain lost composure.
"Let's start?" you pipe up after you finish setting up the space. He turns to your voice with a curious hum, and once more, he sees the animal from earlier where you are supposed to be. Yet, when he blinks, it's gone with you in its place. "Yes..." he starts slowly, intrigued. He remembers you telling him on the server about your, as you had put it, hallucinogenic properties.
"Let us start." he agrees, taking a mental note to inquire further about what you'd said then.
