The concept of Lan Qiren being so aro/ace that he just completely skipped out on his family's Obsessive Love Fixation thing is just hilarious to me.
Man's just watching everyone else in his family spiral over some seemingly random person they've lost their minds about and he simply cannot relate. He definitely thinks it's some kind of curse and that he's personally managed to escape it through like, mindfulness or something? Keeps telling his nephews to meditate and be rational and follow the rules because he thinks attraction is some fake thing that poets invented.

how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)
there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~
I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first
url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order
url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes
url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc
url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant)
the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog!
caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks.
if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else
if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)
Reblogging this cause it’s how I search for things on this blog often! But adding some info in case you use mobile or tumblr dashboard blog view (idk how to call it, when you go to https://www.tumblr.com/dunmeshistash/ instead of https://dunmeshistash.tumblr.com/)
First on Mobile you can search tags on the search box! Thought it’s not very obvious
So when you search something on the mobile search box it looks something like this (at least for me on android)
There’s the search box on top where I’m writing and it gets repeated bellow on the place where before was a list of tags I post about often. If you click to search on your keyboard, the 🔍 icon, it’s gonna search it with the unreliable search function, which sometimes is useful and sometimes it isn’t, on the top it shows “posts with Falin touden” that means you’re in the /search/falin touden
But if you click the link that shows up bellow “posts a lot about” it’s gonna open the tag search: “posts tagged Falin touden”
So you’ll be searching /tagged/falin touden
On the blog view you can do the same by just adding # in front of your search, searching falin touden shows you the search and searching #falin touden shows you the tag
Right now I find searching the blog view easier than the custom theme version of my blog because it breaks less often and I don’t usually need to navigate thru the url anymore. Tumblr mobile unfortunately still works funky even with the tag search.

"Regulus pulled out the three records, covered in the thin sheen of plastic. Grabbing a jade quill, he hurriedly wrote on the back of the records. A small gift for Sirius. When he ran away, he never managed to take all of his records. In his teenage angst, Regulus burnt the remaining records, the three Sirius left behind. These should be enough to make up for it. He kept his words brief, his usual loopy calligraphy smudged against the plastic. He'd get Mercury to deliver the records tonight, as a final parting gift."
what if harry potter travelled back in time to 1974? it's all accidental, and harry has a home to get back to, but damn it, he's going to try to help them. they really need it.
Just some tidbits I've been brainstorming, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
A man wearing an overcoat rushed in from the side door. It was by the teachers' bench, unsuspecting to the trained eye. The new professor stood behind Dumbledore, apologising for missing the entire Sorting Ceremony. At least, that's what Remus assumed he was. He was younger than their other professors, looking to be in his early twenties. It was hard to get a good look at him; his shaggy hair obscured a good deal of his face. Said hair was dyed a shoddy shade of red, the roots already starting to grow out.
Dumbledore gestured for him to stand at the podium. With a bow, he ruffled his hair back. "Apologies for my late arrival. My name is H. J. Granger. I'll be your Defence Against the Dark Arts professor for the year. Pleasure to be here."
The students, who were not paying much attention, piped up at that. They applauded, intrigued by the new professor. With his hair pushed around, Remus finally saw his face. A wicked scar, the shape of lightning, ran down his forehead and a little into his eye. Those eyes were a startling shade of green, brighter than Evans'.
Granger then sat by the teachers, sitting right next to McGonagall. He smiled at her sheepishly, waving a little. Perplexed, she waved back. Sirius and Peter snorted a moment later, for Granger had spilt his pumpkin juice on her. If he were a student, she would have taken points for that. Old Minnie hated pumpkin juice.
Remus was absolutely screwed. Was it so hard for Dumbledore to hire a competent Defence teacher? There were plenty of skilled Aurors, curse breakers, hell, practitioners of the dark arts who'd be eligible. But it was only their fourth year; maybe things would be different.
...
Harry took great care to enter the Defence classroom at dawn. Remus had told him stories of their adventures, especially when it came to pranking their Defence teachers. It was their fourth-year teacher that they sent running a week in.
Big bolts of fabric were draped from wall to wall. Either way, it was not the oddest thing he had seen. Not as 'Hadrian James Granger' anyway. It hurt to not go by his actual name, but another Potter floating about was bound to cause trouble. At least with 'Granger' he'd feel like Hermione was here with him. That's how the red hair spoke to him; it connected him to the Weasleys. Not to mention, it was a decent enough disguise. Not one student told him he looked like James. James. Both his parents were alive, their friends happily trailing behind them, and Harry was older than them both. Not just in the seventies, but older than they'd ever been.
He sighed, vanishing the cloth with a wave of his wand. It revealed several tiered seats in the class, very different from Harry's years at Hogwarts. Shit. He couldn't tell them he attended Hogwarts; he was young enough that they'd have at least one year of overlap between his fourth year. He'd come up with something later.
At the front was an antique desk, cleared of all knick-knacks from previous teachers. When he fell into the portal, there wasn't much on his person. And the snitch from Ginny was too precious to leave lying around his desk.
Dumbledore told him there were some old supplies inside the desk cabinet, which he was right. About five posters, a silver bullet, a box of chalk, and some wooden daggers were arranged neatly inside. Unrolling the posters, he stuck them along the classroom walls. They were typical for a Defence classroom, diagrams of Dark creatures and the like. Luckily for him, there was nothing displaying werewolves. That was bound to leave his dad antsy.
The silver bullet was a little more on the nose, but something to give this 'Hadrian J. Granger' character was important. Fred and George always said the best lies were rooted in some truth and bits. For now, he'd go with the flow. But really, he should have prepared for this more. Teaching Dumbledore's Army was different from teaching a whole curriculum. He couldn't just teach them spells; he actually had to teach theory and the like. But Harry was an Auror now, the Boy Who Lived. He had ended two wars in his lifetime, and he was only twenty-two. This was going to be just fine.
He summoned one of the kitchen elves, a bright-eyed fellow by the name of Yoder. He kneeled down, handing him a list of things Harry needed. With a pop, he left, leaving Harry to wait alone in the dim room.
Things would be okay.
…
Breakfast in the Great Hall was always a rowdy affair for the Marauders. Well, for James and Sirius. For all his grumbling about waking up, James could be as energetic as a Doxy once he was up. They sat by the other Quidditch kids, throwing out strategies as they stuffed their faces with bacon and beans. Sirius was purposely giving them bad ideas, laughing at their red faces as they argued with him.
"Remus. It's your move now," said Peter.
"Ah…sorry, Pete, I'm pretty sure I'm losing this round." There were a few first-years away from them, playing a round of chess. Just muggle chess, since a first-year girl cried when Peter's magical Queen smashed Remus' pawn the night before. Some kids just had to be eased into it, he supposed.
"I don't get how you're losing, though." He laughed. "I've never even played Muggle chess. That's all you, Moony."
Remus sighed. "I don't know. I'm just, you know." He shrugged, shoving a cinnamon roll into his mouth. God, he was starving.
Peter gestured, put off by his theatrics. "You know? I don't, not really. The skies are clear for the next….three weeks?"
"Two weeks. It's just the new Defence bloke, that Granger. We haven't had a decent professor since Prescott. It's going to be the worst, I just know it."
Peter put the chess pieces into his satchel, looking apprehensive. "I don't know, he could be decent. Professor McGonagall probably doesn't like him, but we saw him for…a minute?" He stood up, nudging Remus to follow him. "We need to head to his class anyway. You can see how he holds up to your moon-high standards."
Remus followed suit, barking at James and Sirius to get moving. "I don't have 'moon-high standards' you twat."
James walked over, grabbing a cheese danish off Frank's plate. "What's this about the moon, gentlemen?" asked James. Sirius was behind him, flipping off some seventh-year Ravenclaw. How he pissed her off from across the Hall was beyond Remus.
"Nothing," said Peter. "Just wondering about Granger."
"The professor?" Peter nodded. They left the Hall together, chattering about their theories as to why Dumbledore hired him. Sirius proposed that he was secretly Dumbledore's son, and that it was nepotism that landed him the job.
"That's bullshit, Sirius," chided James. "The two of 'em don't even look the same. And who'd Dumbledore even have a kid with?"
Sirius had a mischievous grin on his face. "Look, the beard doesn't do anything for me personally." Remus retched, purposely overdramatic. "But he's a powerful man, who knows. Maybe he has spectacular duelling skills, if you know what I mean?"
"That's disgusting!" cried Peter. He was absolutely right, of course; that was not something Remus would ever think about again.
They continued chatting until the Defence doorway was swarmed with students. Seems like everyone was curious about young Granger. Their fourth year Defence Against the Dark Arts period was first thing in the morning with the Slytherins. It was a horrid idea, yet one Dumbledore had obviously made. The sea of red and green was thick; all their classmates were here.
"Oi, Evans! Why aren't the bunch of you going in?" asked James. She was standing closest to the door, Mary and Snape by her side. Evans turned around, distracted from her conversation with Snape. As per usual, he was scowling, but he looked older. Seems the summer sun shoved an extra three inches onto the git.
Evans sighed, twiddling with her bag charm. It was the same ladybird she proudly showed off in their first year. "Professor Granger asked us to wait until everyone arrived. You lot are the last to come." She rolled her eyes. "Not that I'm surprised."
"Classic Evans," said James. He turned to them, a smile on his face. "Isn't she hilarious?"
"Absolutely, my good man."
"Sure."
"I thought you called her a—" began Peter.
James elbowed him, hard. "She's. Funny. Right. Pete?"
Peter cradled his ribs, raising a shaky thumb.
The door smashed open, frightening the lot of them. A few even pulled out their wands, staying vigilant. Sirius was one of those few. It was just Granger, though, still wearing the overcoat. It engulfed him.
"Good reflexes." He pushed his glasses up. "Sorry about startling you all. Come on in." His friends looked at each other, exasperated. One by one, the students filtered in.
The Defence room looked pretty different from Prescot's tenure. She kept their class purely theoretical, which wasn't bad per se. It was bloody useful, the stuff she taught. Remus had never done so well on his written practical exam until that year. But that meant her room was dreadfully boring. She lined the walls with tapestries, apparently woven in the 14th century. Granger's room was different.
The tiered desks were arranged in a circle, leaving a gap for students to walk between. In the centre stood Granger, a chalkboard set up on wooden stands behind him. There were diagrams of Dark creatures lining the walls. Luckily, there was not one werewolf. If Remus were even luckier, Granger would not find out.
In typical Gryffindor fashion, they sat as far from the Slytherins as possible. There was a clear divide between the two houses, except for Lily and Snape.
"Damn traitor", whispered Sirius. James elbowed him at that, overly protective of his crush. Of course, James did not know of that. Just about everyone in their House realised it. It would take him another year to figure it out, though, and Remus was not going to be the one to tell him.
"Okay, everyone." Granger clapped his hands together. "Welcome to Defence Against the Dark Arts. I'm Professor Granger." He started to pace around his chalkboard, meeting everyone's eyes as he passed them. "I'm aware Hogwarts does not have a standardised Defence program. Which is a shame, a bloody shame." Sirius let out a low whistle, not expecting their professor to throw that around. It was a tame word for someone like them, of course, but it was still unexpected.
Granger laughed, still pacing. "Pardon my language there. Moving on now." He waved his wand, writing his full name on the chalkboard with just a spell.
"Your name is Hadrian James Granger?" blurted out James.
"Yes, that is my name, Mister…" he trailed off.
James, of course, filled him in. "Potter. James Potter."
Granger chuckled. "What a coincidence. In the future, Mister Potter, raise your hand." He looked pensive and stopped his prowling. "Going by Potter's example, are there any questions you'd like to ask?"
Tens of juvenile arms shot up, eager to ask Professor Granger their burning questions.
"Yes, you with the red hair." He pointed at Lily. "What do you want to know?"
"I'm Lily Evans. Professor Granger, how old are you?" asked Lily.
"Twenty-two, Miss Evans. My birthday is July 31st, so I'll be twenty-three next year…" he trailed off, seeing that more hands had shot up. "I suppose we won't have much of a lesson today."
The rest of their class went on like this, the students basically interviewing Professor Granger. Remus hated to say it, but his hopes were pretty high with this new teacher. He wasn't a peacock by any means, but his very presence felt… dependable.
"No, Sirius, I am not related to Headmaster Dumbledore in any way, shape, or form. In fact, I met the man just over the summer." He laughed with good nature.
"So you never went to Hogwarts?" Sirius seemed shocked. "I pegged you as a Gryffindor."
"I may be British by blood, but I attended various schools abroad growing up. I'll still be a good professor, though, I promise you that, Sirius."
The more questions he answered, the more Remus had. Professor Hadrian James Granger was still a mystery.
"Okay, just enough time for one more question." He scanned the crowd. "Mister Snape, what is your question?"
"Prescott was heavy on theory. What will you be teaching us, sir?" asked Snape.
"Obviously Defence Against the Dark Arts, Snivellus," said James. Some of the Gryffindors snickered, Lily glaring at them.
Professor Granger sighed. "Five points off Gryffindor." The Gryffindor section groaned, unhappy to lose points so early in the year. Remus overheard some of them cursing James out. "Try to be a bit nicer. I'm not asking you to snog each other or suddenly love the colour green, but," he paused, "Rivalry can be good. It can inspire us to work hard and to collaborate with our friends. And…remember, you're all still students. Just students."
The classroom was silent. Remus didn't really know where he was going with this. Taking a deep breath, he continued his speech. "I'll do my best to teach you every aspect of Defence. I can teach you to jinx your enemies to oblivion, to protect yourself from deadly artefacts, and to identify the darkest of creatures. But most of all, you'll all learn the consequences magic can have."
The bell rang, and Professor Granger smiled. "You're all dismissed. I look forward to our classes together."
