I’m actually convinced the reason so few people in the US got vaccinated is because our healthcare system is so awful. A lot of people no longer trust doctors because they struggle to get treatment that helps them when they need it, some refused to believe the vaccine was actually free, and even more people were skeptical of the vaccine precisely *because* it was free. Because why would a system that hates you and tries to gouge every penny it can out of you give you *anything* for free? A lot of my family refused to get vaccinated because they felt there had to be an ulterior motive such as putting microchips in people or making them infertile. Obviously there wasn’t, and the vaccine was free because the rich people who own our politicians needed everyone back in the office, but it’s not necessarily an illogical thing to be worried when a system that clearly doesn’t care if you live or die suddenly claims to want to help you.
