Here’s my prediction for EP 53:

One of the Ferins (whether that be Drey or his brother…) is going to reveal Jay’s initial intentions for joining up with Chip and his pirate crew. Maybe she was initially supposed to be a spy, infiltrating enemy lines. Her family is bitter over the death of Jay’s sister, and Jay agrees to be a pirate because she is too. And even if Jay isn’t a spy anymore, even if she’s grown to like being a pirate over time, it doesn’t hurt Chip and Gillion any less. They feel betrayed by her. This episode, she tries to smooth things over to no avail. Chip’s already mad at her, and Gillion doesn’t take well to liars.

Whatever happens, I guess we’re gonna have to just roll with it.

I’ve had this theory for a while but what if Gillion is completely lying about being “Champion of the Undersea, Hero of the Deep” (or is it the other way around idk…)? It kinda sounds like the sort of ironic humor that Charlie would throw into a character. Maybe Gillion is so low-wisdom that he convinces himself that he’s an important undersea warrior when in fact he’s not all that significant at all. Maybe he’s brainwashed himself to the point where he refuses to even consider the fact that he might be lying to himself. Just a thought…
