Dianne shook her head, not wanting to scare the other. “Nope, just the same old boring politics.” She lied with a small laugh.
Lucy raised a brow, sitting beside her. “Oh same old boring politics, huh? Enlighten me then.”

agnesxhenson:
“Thank you, I can only return that compliment”, she replied. Had their been a heart pumping blood through her body Agnes might have blushed at the compliment. It was true though, she had changed much about her appeareance since first meeting Lucille. She had changed her entire being, cutting all ties to the person she had been, to the person that fell under Ruthven’s spell so easily. “Time is a fleeting thing and a concept that I no longer care about. I blink and an entire decade is gone.”, absentmindedly her hand brushed over the book she had been reading prior, “Very little things can hold my attention long enough these days. I was looking for something… How can I explain it? Something quiet, something out of time. And Crescent Hill is what I found” She had tried to hide in this town, hoped she could stay for a few years, decades even, but only a few months after her arrival a hunter’s moon had shown the vampire that danger lingered everywhere. “It seems more like fate than coincidence that we should meet again. A familiar face, a trust worthy one at best, is something I always find myself longing for”
“Thank you, I won’t lie, I do enjoy the flexibility of the clothes now,” she laughed lightly. Her eyes glanced over the woman, a face so familiar, so different and yet she had not aged all at the same time. It was hard not to change, even in some way. Biologically their skin did not age, they did not weaken but their mind changed with the long lives they lived. Maybe those years of experience showed on their faces. And the changing fashion definitely made a significant difference. “Hmm, I couldn’t agree more. Sometimes five years will pass in one country, one city so fast,” she nodded as she agreed with the girl. “I found this little gem a while back and you are right, something about its quietness pulls you in.” She looked to the book. “I still enjoy books, a time when people really appreciated them.” Lucy smiled gently. “I find this town seems to do that. I have met another familiar face here. But seeing yours, brings back so many memories. It is good to see you. I am glad you still feel that way about me. Trust is hard being a vampire.”
agnesxhenson:
Slowly but surely the pieces in her head clicked together, forming a picture that both surprised and delighted Agnes. Through her long life she had met many people, some mortal, some immortal. But sooner or later she had lost them all, some to death, some to life. It did not happen often that a familiar face reappeared, especially not so out of nowhere. “Lucille?”, her eyebrows shot up as Agnes could not believe it, “Is it really you? How long has it been? Centuries!” She quickly turned her head, making sure no one was close enough to overhear them. “What brings you to a small town like this?"
Lucy’s eyes studied the girl’s face, waiting for her reaction. In her long life, she had lost many people, seeing a familiar face was always comforting. A reminder she was not completely alone. “Yes, it is I. Agnes, you look amazing in this century, this decade,” she laughed gently. “I am still surviving, yes. It’s really me. I am not even sure. I travel, move around, time passes. It has been so long.” Her eyes glanced around them. “Well, I found this place a while back. I decided to give it another visit. There’s always something curious about this little place. And yourself?”
felgregori:
“I do know that, but the humans and other creatures of this town had only just calmed.” HIs eyes looked over her. “They need no reason to panic. None of us are clean, we are creatures that live on the blood of others. Parasites. We need to keep their trust… or we die.”
“Then we shall do our best to keep them calm. I want you to know, I am not here to harm anyone,” she said, keeping her eyes on him. The vampire wanted him to see she meant those words. “Hmm, that is true. The thought crosses my mind from time to time. But... I do not wish to die.” Lucy nodded. “I have mortals I care for. Mortals I trust. Yourself? Do you?” she asked gently.
lobovega:
“You are a vampire. It’s always been very clear to me. What isn’t is why you’d waste your time with us.”
He shook his head, knowing she’d hold that over his head. All the times he’d needed her, been too weak to protect their daughter when they’d been together. Protect them. “You knew everything about me. My sad short life before her. I barely know you at all. How can there be trust like that.” She’d always have more years on him, more experience, he was one lone man inching closer to the grave.
Guilt, anger, exhaustion, and even after all these years that love he’d had for her that had twisted to a painful resentment, all on display because Noel couldn’t hide his emotions if he’d tried. But hearing her say she cared, made him search her features for it, hungry to find it.
“No, she wasn’t.” He agreed, there would be no arguments there. “I’ll live with this mistake for the rest of my life. Even when we find her.” He had to believe they would. There was no alternative for him. “I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if we don’t.”
“My next move is to speak with the pack leader. I’ll see what they have to say. She was still human when I last saw her…” He said, voicing a bit of his concern. “If she’s turned, she could be finding refuge with any of the factions here.”
Noel almost laughed. “If her disappearing wasn’t punishment enough. If she took only our bad habits, god help us.” He looked back at her, thinking I don’t deserve you.
Instead he said, “Thank you.”
“I have been a vampire a long time, I have done things I am not proud of... don’t thinks to try and feel fulfilled. And, Noel, finding you both did that for me.” She nodded, keeping her gaze on him. She hoped he could believe her.
"I have lived a long life. Two centuries. I apologise if I did not let you into that. There is much I do not think about like I used to. Things that fade. Things I block out.” She sighed. “But if you... really wish to know. Then maybe we can work up to that.” She nodded, looking back at his face. “Maybe... if we find our friendship again, you can ask me the things you want to.”
“She is no child. Maybe it is not your mistake. Who knows what she went looking for. She has her own mind. She could come back when she is ready. Contact you when she is ready.” She touched his arm slightly. “But we will look for her. Any lead we can find. I promise.”
“Then speak to the wolf leader... find any packs, any wolves around the area. There’s towns nearby.” Lucy nodded at him. “Well, she learnt from the best, didn’t she?” she half laughed. “Of course... she means a lot to me too.”
felgregori:
Felix smiled at the vampire. “Could he not have sympathised with the supernatural cause?” He shrugged. “Perhaps, i do not like to speak ill of the dead… being one of them myself.”
“I do not know. None of us will ever know now. But it could go either way. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. Just keep your guard up. Whatever happened... something isn’t right. And I know you know that,” she smiled back at him. “Hmm, let me guess, your record isn’t squeaky clean like me isn’t.”
lobovega:
“It was much more complicated than that.” Vega had to believe that, and shook his head, “You’re not all powerful. And I… We weren’t good for each other.” He had been young and had wanted to believe otherwise, a misplaced need to prove himself.
Vega and his daughter had been good for years, it would be easy to argue against Lucy about that, but now that he was a year in searching it felt like that argument was moot. His face quivered, as he tried to hold Lucy’s gaze, her use of our, like a shot through his heart. “I promised, we’d be okay on our own. I’d never wanted to break that promise.” Had wanted to prove that he alone could be strong enough.
Vega roughly rubbed at his face, trying to rub raw at the hot emotions. She made him weak, made him too reliant on her, but at this moment he couldn’t care about that. He nodded at Lucy.
“I followed her scent through Texas. Across Oklahoma. Sticking to roads mostly as far as I could tell. Kansas it was weaker and then through the wilderness here in Missouri. I was sure I smelled her out there.” He gestured to the outskirts of trees and mountains, “but her smell is not here in Crescent Hills.” He finished.
She pressed her lips together, refusing to show how much his words got under her skin. She wasn’t all powerful, no. She had more humanity left inside of her than she’d want anyone to know. “You may as well just say it, Noel. I’m a vampire. How could I be fully trusted? How could I be needed by two mortals?” She gave a half laughed, covering whatever she really felt.
She looked up, his eyes were on her and she stared back. “You promised and yet I see no sign of her. I may not be the most maternal woman in the world. I am over two centuries old. But don’t for one second act like I did not care for you or her.” She shook her head. “You lost her. She clearly wasn’t okay with you.”
“Well, there’s a close pack here. If she had heard of them... maybe she has been nearby,” she let out a breath, composing herself. “I am not one to keep check on wolf packs myself. Or maybe... she really does take after us both. A lone wolf. Pun intended. We both act like we’re okay on our own.”
oh-jazzy:
“Uh… maybe in your world. I know what death is. And i know death shouldn’t happen to one so young.” She rolled her eyes.
“Don’t roll those eyes of yours. Death isn’t always so innocent. And it reminds us to truly appreciate this life. No one is invincible.” She sat. “Don’t waste your mourning on someone you did not truly know. You seem like a smart girl to me.”
felgregori:
“And who says John Doe did anything? You seem to be condemning a dead man with no evidence.” He folded his arms, quirking his brow. “You seem awfully suspicious for one so old.”
Lucy ran her finger across the table. “Darling, don’t confused being smart for suspicious. Supernaturals disappear, are murdered... then one dead human.” She quirked a brow. “The real question is, why are you so quick to defend him?”
oh-jazzy:
Jazz sighed, knowing that vampires would often be a little… dramatic. Or at least this one was showing those tendencies. “I have positive. Just a little hard to forget finding bodies.”
The vampire tilted her head. “To be upset over one dead body, darling. If only. Death happens. It always has, it always will.”

Dianne continued chewing on her pencil as she read the news, not even listening to the other. “I’m sorry, did you say something?” She asked once she realized that the other woman had been speaking to her.
Lucy’s eyes glanced over the woman, shaking her head. “Nothing that mattered.” She nodded to her hands. “Reading something interesting there?”
oh-jazzy:
Jazz rubbed her lips together, watching the woman. She tried to ignore her smell. “Thanks… i think.” She rubbed her lips once again, looking around in the cold. “I suppose i am… this is a good town. There’s no shortage of people who mean well.”
The vampire’s nose wrinkled slightly as she caught the girl’s scent in the cold breeze. “It was life advice, dear. Don’t be consumed by the dark things.” She turned. “Then that is a good place to hold onto. That is your positive. Good people.”
oh-jazzy:
Jazz nodded. “Yeah… he was about my age too. I guess i find that weird. Thinking that… it could end at any moment.” She took a deep breath. “No… i don’t. I lost my dad a few years back… we’ve all been tight knit since then.”
The vampire let her face soften just slightly, looking back at the young woman. “Well, as a girl who has lived through many changes on this earth, I advise you not to think in such a way. It will consume you. Don’t waste your life like that,” she nodded. “I am terribly sorry for your loss. You are lucky to have those who care around you though.”
felgregori:
Felix raised a brow, pushing a glass towards her. “Hmm… well we have been through a lot. Two of our own dead and a John Doe.” He glanced at her. Not giving away any of the truth. “One would be in their right mind to suggest a new old vampire arriving in town is a coincidence.”
The girl picked up the glass, giving the contents a sniff. She had learnt in her two centuries to never trust anyone. “And has no one thought that these murders could be connected. That the John Doe paid for what he did?” she asked, raising a brow. “No more than a John Doe ending up dead before I even got here and a vampire sat in front of me not telling me everything.”
weepingwillcws:
“i’d comment on how horrific that is but, i have to admit i have often been guilty of playing with my food,” ambroise said with a light sigh in response. “planned? so we have a serial killer? ooh, i’m getting goose bumps at the thought!” he giggled, not entirely obvious if he was being serious or not.
“Hmm, I can comment on how horrific it is... doesn’t mean I haven’t done it before. Most of us are guilty of playing with our food at least once in our lifetime,” she nodded to the man in front of her. “Indeed. A serial killer or better known as a human who hunts the supernatural. A hunter, I assume.”
oh-jazzy:
The young werewolf nodded. “Yes… not exactly close. But i knew them. It’s a shock we’re a small town.” She looked around, checking that they were somewhere that they could be seen. Right now, even she was a little skittish. “I do… i went off to college. But i came back. This is home. everybody i know is here and i like that. It’s nice being around family.”
“It is still a shock when anyone dies, dear. If you knew them in anyway, it is odd them being gone,” she nodded, noting the girl’s behaviour. “Home, what a nice word.” He eyes flicked up when she heard family. “Family is an important thing, never take it for granted.”
