She spent two years in a tree to avoid being cut

The year was 1997 and a woman, who at the time was 23, decided to save Luna, a redwood tree 60 meters high and over 500 years. That December 10, Julia turned that tree in her home for two years, changing her life forever.

Over a thousand rings had the trunk of Luna when a chainsaw wanted to cut it through. Fortunately, the fate of this twisted tree. A young butterfly alighted on it and spent 738 days in its branches forcing the company Pacific Lumber to suspend cutting this and other forest trees from Stanford, California.

December 10th, 1997, Julia climbed the tree. Her new home was located now at 50 meters. In 3 square meters, Julia placed everything she needed: a canvas, its walls; a small stove, the kitchen; a bucket with a sealed bag, bathroom and a sponge (to collect rainwater), her shower.

Her case became known in the world and eight days after they were fulfilled two years of her stay in the tree, Julia put her feet on earth.

The company assumed responsibility for environmental policy to include in future work that was performed.

Today, Julia is still involved in environmental commitments. She helped create the NGO “Circle of Life”

Update on creep incident yesterday

I got to talk to my partner sometime later. When he said "everybody heard me", he was referring to me saying that I was taking my break. He was worried that the creep would try to harass me while I was eating my lunch outside. D'aww thanks, Erick.

So the creepy guy who tried to hit on me once at my workplace showed up again today. Good thing I wasn’t at the register when he did. But I did point out, in a hushed tone, to my manager, who he was, saying: that’s the guy who tried to hit on me. My partner told me that everybody at the store heard me. Probably he was calling me out for professional reasons? Or simply because he found it funny? Anyway, I am aware I wasn't prepared to face this guy so I was reacting in a manner I shouldn't have (e.g., never show weakness to creeps) and for that I did embarrass myself. Then again, why should I be? Its this creepy guy who did something offensive. He is the one who should be embarrassed or apologize for anything. And yeah, maybe people should be aware that he’s a creep.

I realized that the way I react to situations, other people, and basically, everything that happens in my life, reflects my wisdom as well as my ignorance.

Some people...

...treat me like a delicate flower no matter how hard I try to exude otherwise. Maybe because it is what I really am. But I too am strong because although I sincerely appreciate people who respect my sensitivity, fragility, and weakness. I understand that there will be others who won’t. And I can live with that.
