finally got around to designing all the rangers and their suits! hey what's that retiree doing there

design notes and rambles below the cut

first of all, huge thanks to the miraheze wiki for compiling all the known details 🫶 this is a project i've wanted to complete for the longest time and i couldn't have done it without having the info in one convenient place (go check it out if you haven't already it's really cool and we're working hard on it!!)

i was thinking of including mortum but i decided to keep them saved for a villains set. so far i'm planning villains (mortum, heartbreak jr., puppet, dove, sky raider, hg trio, shroud, and so on), the guardians, and past rangers & co (sidestep, anathema, sentinel, etc). ok maybe that's like too much but well. might as well give it a try while we're all in the revelations waiting room

rangers logo is courtesy of my buddy @phantomrush who came up with this design after i made one up with eagles in mind because. well the rangers sure are federal workers and you know what that means. ortega is two steps away from being captain america

my very loose fhr fancast

thought it would be fun to make this so. assorted pics of famous-ish people i think match the vibes of the main cast, some of them are a lot closer to the mark than others and don't actually match the ethnicity of the character in question b/c of what i've been able to find, and most of them i need to add more bodyfat in post when i use them as refs, but they do kind of get the energy i'm going for)

mirlene - danai gurira (a little more rounded and she'd be perfect! <3)

merle - tongayi chirisa (similar to mirlene's fc)

julia - becky dee (a little bit younger than i see julia and a few shades too pale but the bodytype and the swagger/smile is right on)

ricardo - young davey lopes (found just today by @kidhellion ty! <3 guy isn't latino but damn he does match up perfectly)

the other rangers

argent - quannah chasinghorse (credit to @uncreativeboxdraws for finding her <3 I read argent as indigenous mexican latina, because of her name ximena being a v popular name in mexico)

chen - young(er) jet li (again, needs more bodyfat, but the rounded cheeks and squareish jaw do sell it)

daniel - heath ledger (i like his smile lines/dimples a lot, they feel very daniel and just generally he has just enough youthfulness to read as a guy in his mid twenties and not a baby)

bonus: my steps

sura - vineeta maruri (who also happens to be nb which is nice!). very very loose fc ref tho, their nose and lips and such aren't as pronounced as sura's, and they are pretty young, but it's the closest i've been able to get and i can sometimes use them as a baseline

kat - roberta collindrez (used her likeness when making kat so he pretty much looks like her)

surendra - either akshay khanna (left, similar to his origins as an offshoot of original sura, still south asian) or bilal hasna (right, diverging more from original with a SWANA guy)

ignore that it took me two weeks to get to these. i had a good reason (lying). aion's bad disguise is thinking that no one would recognize them if they had a masquerade mask. doctor you have 6 inch horns that everyone can see

very happy with the evelyn one :) the harpy king.. played with new brushes for it + may end up making it into a more fleshed out thing later? we shall see
