The Real-Life Junior Woodchucks' Books
Anyone familiar with the Junior Woodchucks, the scouting organization in the Donald Duck Universe, will know about their fabulous guidebook, which appears to contain information and advice on every possible subject despite its small, paperback format.
But did you know that real-life versions of the fictional guidebook have existed since the late 1960s?
The first collection was created in Italy by Mondadori. The first volume was published in 1969 and later translated and published in several other countries. From what I've seen online, these included France, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, Brasil and the U.S..
I have found scans of a couple of volumes in my native language (French) as well as some in Italian.
Here are two pages I translated into English (sorry if there are any mistakes) from a French scan, to give you an idea of the type of content to be found in these books! Both are tutorials, one is about a specific flower, the other about a magic trick.
hi, i'd like to start to do "scanlations" of duck comics that haven't been published in english-speaking countries. i've found a scan of such a story which i remember liking as a child, with a nice, detailed drawing style that reminds me of don rosa's!
the artist's name is urios and worked with the francesc bargadà studio. i'd like to read more of the stories drawn by urios (listed here), but i wouldn't know where to find the scans. one thing to note is that all the stories in the list were published in germany. apparently, none of them except the one i found: "(Historia de) Venecia" (french scan here), were ever published in my country (france). none were published in english-speaking countries for that matter. so i've never read them! if anyone has scans of them, i'd love to have a look and maybe even attempt to translate them (although i don't know any german!).
