Series: Part 2 of The Princess and the Doctor
Summary:
A princess was not supposed to be seen in public, that lesson had been engraved into Iolande very quickly. A prince could go anywhere, be anyone, do anything. But a princess? A princess was supposed to take care of their elderly father, a princess was supposed to sit pretty and let her brothers handle it, a princess was supposed to be married off to assure diplomatic ties.
Or: as Soranik gives a diagnosis of Iolande’s entire planet, Iolande thinks about all the lessons she had to learn as a child, as a disabled woman, and as a princess in her society. Can be read as standalone.
