Hiatus

I am regretfully putting Tar-Miriel on hiatus. I love her, but right now, given circumstances in my life, I'm not at a place where I feel comfortable spending the time in her head to be able to write her properly. I feel stressed when I try to do so.

I will do some replies here and there as inspiration and energy allows. I hope to return once I feel able to tackle her again. I think I just need some time to focus on my other muses.

Statues of important First Age Edain women - lost in the Downfall of Númenor.

Adanel - Adanel was a Wise Woman, born into the House of Hador, and married into the House of Bëor. She was one of Andreth’s teachers in lore.

Beleth - Beleth was the eldest child and only daughter of Bregolas, of the House of Bëor. She was Morwen and Rían’s aunt, and the ancestor of Queen Erendis.

Hareth - Hareth was the daughter of Halmir, chieftain of the Haladin. She married into the House of Hador, and her children were Húrin and Huor.

These women were survivors, loremasters, huntresses. In the loss of Beleriand, and of Númenor, few records of their deeds survive, but it’s very likely that the Númenoreans, at least, would have honoured them with statues.

The first metal-hulled ships in our world were used in 1860. The first skyscrapers were built in the 1880s. If they were in the equivalent of this time period, as suggested by the quote, Akallabeth-era Númenoreans could have had train travel, early telephones, early photography, et cetera. What’s fascinating is that these were Tolkien’s writings up to 1937— at which point the events he described happening for the first time in Númenor had happened for the first time in his own world a bit more than half a century ago. This being Tolkien, the Númenorean industrial revolution and its closeness to the modern world are cast in a negative light, and explained to be a result of Sauron’s influence. However, the thought that Middle-earth— a world meant to be a far-distant past— had at one point nearly caught up to the time of the man who wrote it is still incredibly interesting.

Here’s a Numenorean city in #13! It’s a bit messy but I think it gets the point across. :) I loved Akallabeth and Sauron’s manipulation of Numenor is one of my favourite things (who cares about the One Ring amirite). Palette #13 is so shiny and golden, it fits Numenor’s high days so well.

Someone would be singing a random Elwing-Earendil song and then she became a swan and are you drunk???? It was a Seagull, but pfft a queen into a seagull yeah right but EXCUSE YOU IT WAS A PELICAN
