#SUO HAYATO ARC AND WHY I THINK HE MIGHT'VE BEEN A SLAVE + BACKSTORY ANALYSIS, THEORY AND SPECULATIONS!!🫖🎐

note: this is just my speculation and I'm open to discussion! Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!
Q: why does he not eat? (which I'll explain below too)
I'll state everything in points to make it easier to understand.
First off, why I think he could be related to slavery:
• his dream: emancipation of slaves
Either caused due to some kinda related incidents he "witnessed" or cuz he's directly related to it. Suo reacts strongly whenever he's met with people who only think about other person's feelings or troubles when they're the victim and in that situation, suo shows anger towards them. He must've experienced smth srs messed up which makes him empathise with people who suffer at the hands of "injustice" and come to hate/feel anger towards people who only look at those victims' pain when THEY are faced with similar suffering (look at his expression here)
• would explain why he hates adults who act like kids and why convincing others to accept his requests, handling negotiations, making them cough up info are his "skills". (Aside from the yakuza theory)
If suo was in an environment where he experienced/witnessed the abuse of slaves and/or people of lower status and saw the adults around use them to get them to listen to their every selfish whim, threw tantrums (drunk tantrums etc) and used unjust means to torture, suo must've, over time, gotten used to using his smarts and speech skills to save himself (may have saved others at times too?) from such harm, using everything even he had, smth even a kid could use if he pushed himself to polish it in that environment to protect or defend himself (i.e. his speech. his intellect that is only his) Also why dealing with and witnessing such "adults" made him hate them.
I back this point up by mentioning suo's calm and unfazed behaviour (as nirei mentioned) when being in the red light district and the adult bar when he's only fifteen. He shouldn't be so at ease in a place like that unless there's some reason behind that calm. And if there IS a reason, it brings up further questions cuz he's only fifteen, a minor, so there should be no reason for him to be "familiar" with such an environment. Unless. He's been familiar against his will or choice due to circumstances. Like you can understand sakura being that at ease and okay because he doesn't even know of those places and their purpose and the activities that can happen there in the first place. So nirei was the only one whose reactions were actually realistic and relatable. (Either this or suo is just too good at hiding his internal unease and such)
•his hate of natto: was probably because he was fed natto on a very regular basis without any other proper food. Punishment food/Discipline food/Living conditions so bad that was the one thing either he could afford/was given by the cruel people, hence making it a source of bad experience and a trauma trigger for him
• having a dark and unsettling past like his, it would also make sense why he didnt want to talk about his past with the people he cared about. Also explains his extreme and intense emotions and why he looses control when experiencing or witnessing injustice or violence
• if he's been through concerning bad living conditions, then it might also explain, to an extent, why he doesn't sweat much. If he's endured heat higher than whats normal cuz he was forced to work/had to endure it cuz of his environment, or if he was trained for endurance by either his master or forced by someone else to endure it OR bringing in the theory of human trafficking being involved- if he's lived or travelled through places with higher temperatures, he would get used to it and be able to endure the heat people normally experience without much difficulty. (apologies I kinda have a vision in my head here but I feel vague over this point myself. anw moving on)
•if suo has already been to such "adult like places" in the past, it would explain why being in roppo ichiza's district and that bar didn't faze him. Like nirei said, he is "too used" to this
• maybe he likes the smooth feel of silk/hemp clothes on the skin and soft kung fu shoes cuz he didnt have proper clothes to wear prior to wearing these and what he wore were either rough or in bad condition. Maybe he was abused so much that his body is covered in injuries and scars so these clothes felt comfortable and unlike the clothes he had to wear, these were soft and didn't hurt him when he wore them so he started liking them. Maybe his master SAVED him and gave him those clothes and that was when he wore them for the first time. His injuries and scars didn't hurt. His skin didn't feel bothered. It was smooth and comfy so he started liking them. And got attached to them cuz his master was the one who gave him those clothes and cuz he wore the same thing as him.
Would explain why he always covers his torso/upper torso cuz he doesn't want to show those scars to anyone.
• would also explain why he doesn't like showing any weaknesses or admitting his weakness in public cuz he'd been in an environment where weaknesses were taken advantage of or abused. Even tho he knows he can trust his friends and such people, he can't bring himself to show his weaknesses, he dislikes weaknesses and his experience prevents him from opening up about that part of him. And also because he's got serious low self worth and low self esteem issues which he doesn't show. He doesn't think he's worthy of opening up and getting people to accept and love HIM.
• would explain why he likes tea and tea sweets. His master def served him those as his first proper food. Which is why he likes them and it's his comfort food/drink. Maybe his "diet" is him avoiding food cuz his past made it difficult for him to eat (trauma).
Can only digest certain foods/eat certain foods/difficult for him to accept food outside/eat outside in peace while feeling safe, even tho in his mind, he knows its safe, that it's okay- it's his body's system not accepting it (or maybe I'm reading too much into it) anw wnbk associates food with comfort/peace and uses it as a means to open to people. Food represents WARMTH and shows the love and care between people as they sit and eat together so I think this could be why he likes tea/tea sweets if it was his master or some other good person who served him that. Like how omurice became sakura and ume's comfort food. It was the first warm and loving meal they had with someone which was cooked out of pure care for them. Plus tea/tea sweets are light on the stomach so suo's eating issues wouldn't bother him
• His "brothers" mentioned in the official profile above might NOT be blood related to him. Kids his master trained or who just lived (still live?) alongside suo and treated him as their own family, their own brother. Hence suo's respect/admiration for them
• Bet suo was already pretty strong which was one of the reasons why he survived his past and pushed through his suffering. His master and brothers alongside suo live/lived in a dojo like environment, hence suo's posture and usual form. His master gave him those earrings and eye patch and cared for him after the accident with his eye and trained suo in his mixed martial arts form.
• chinese master/chinese descent suo/maybe both. He maybe learnt a different language (chinese prob) cuz he wanted to speak and understand the language of his beloved master, to communicate in his tongue. He was already pretty smart so I think he picked it up early
Or. Again. Human trafficking? As a slave? he travelled through different regions and picked up on different languages? OR a forced heir or son of a non blood related family? Or a strict suffocating household whether blood related or not that made him practice and learn all sorts of things?
• suo hayato was the name his master gave him. He either didn't have a name or didn't remember if he even had one. Hence his response when nirei asks him during their first encounter "you're suo san right?" and he answers "YEAH. EVERYONE CALLS ME THAT" instead of a simple yes. Furthermore, merch line ups and such always use flowers/birds and such with suo that heavily symbolise REBIRTH. hence the rebirth of a kid when he got named "suo hayato" and hence why, the response. Which is why I think his name, suo hayato is real, sure, but one that was given to him later. And not when he was born. So his case is that his name is real but given later.
(Or this really is his fake name and he still doesn't have a real one)
• and all these points explain why furin high school is his favourite place according to the profile.
