® the first time you invited him to go shopping with you, you mentioned you’d been saving money for a while and he was personally offended you hadn’t just told him you wanted new clothes. like if you’d said something earlier, he could’ve handled it weeks ago.

he usually doesn’t let you pay for anything no matter how hard you try. he has money, so why would he let you? but this time he respects that you wanted to buy things yourself. ® damian takes great pride in knowing you, your habits, your taste, your favorite colors. so when it comes to clothes it’s no different. he’s so observant he knows exactly what pieces you’ll love and actually wear.

hal jordan’s voice drifts somewhere between casual and self-satisfied as he leans against the counter, gesturing with one hand, the other clutching a glass of water that catches the kitchen light. he’s mid-story — one of those long, drawn-out mission recaps where he swears it was just routine until he saved six lives and almost got vaporized.

he’s talking obscenely fast, grinning between sentences, eyes bright with that pilot glow of adrenaline that never really fades. “—and then kilowog’s yelling at me to stand down, which, obviously, i don’t, because someone has to actually do something, right? so I’m dodging plasma fire, the ring’s half-drained, and—hey, are you even listening?”

you hum a vague, “mhmm,” but your attention’s already gone.

it’s hard to listen when his voice keeps rumbling low like that, or when the morning light slides down the cut of his chest — all golden tan and muscle, marked with the faintest bruises that look more like trophies than injuries. his hair’s still damp from a shower he clearly didn’t bother to finish properly, and the droplets trail over his collarbone, disappearing into the towel hanging dangerously low around his hips.

he’s still going, still talking, completely unaware that you haven’t processed a single word that didn’t sound like “blah blah blah” in your brain.

“—so then the construct fails, and obviously I’m improvising—”

“mhmmm,” you murmur again, eyes fixed on the way his abs tense slightly when he laughs at his own story.

hal narrows his eyes, catching the lazy, faraway look you’re giving him. “you’re not hearing a damn thing I’m saying, are you?”

you blink up at him, lips curving into a slow, guilty smile. “You were saying something about… plasma fire?”

he huffs, amused, rubbing a hand over the back of his neck — which only makes the muscles in his arm flex even more. “unbelievable. i risk intergalactic annihilation and you’re staring at my abs.”

“hey, if you didn’t want me to stare, maybe you shouldn’t be standing there like a Calvin Klein ad.ᐟ”

hal chuckles, stepping closer until his shadow spills over you. “you do realize I was trying to impress you with heroics, right? not… whatever this is.”

“too late,” you tease, letting your gaze trail up from his stomach to his smirk. “consider me impressed anyway.”

he leans in, towel still precariously low, grin softening just enough to make your pulse hitch.

“next time, sweetheart,” he murmurs, “i’ll tell the story after I put on a shirt.”

summary: trying to get barbara to relax for the first time in what feels like a lifetime.

you lay back into the seat of the airplane, trying to be as comfortable as you can to endure the next few hours until your destination. barbara quietly adjusts her neck pillow, looking way too stressed for someone who is about to go on vacation.

it's been a while since she has been allowed to relax, specially not fully. you've been trying to get her to decompress for a while now, but there's aways something getting in the way, aways another emergency, like there's a gravitational field cruelly pulling her away from rest, and quite frankly, from you.

it started with the day you planned a spa date. you had planned and booked everything in advance to make sure to get a good time slot, reading and comparing packages and stablishment reviews like a possessed person at 3 a.m. only for your efforts to be washed away by the big tide that is gotham's alarming crime rate and a random weirdo in a themed costume that decided it was a good idea to attack the city right on the exact time you were checking into the establishment. because of course.

then you planned a movie night, that way she wouldn't even have to leave the house! just sit there and not lift a finger while you finally get to spoil your overworked vigilante girlfriend with junk food and a sappy rom-com you were sure she’d spend the whole time judging the main character's choices and making sarcastic comments about. but things can´t just be simple, no. that day barbara had to leave mid makeover scene to help intercept a joker gas release at a crowded amusement park.

this was just the start of a series of ruined dates and what you thought was going to be the pivot for your villian arc. maybe make a duo with calendar man and orchestrate a strike on valentine´s day out of pure frustation.

this time, however, barbara planned everything by herself, even when you insisted on sharing the responsibility with her. she wanted to make it up to your for all the times your efforts went down the drain. she figured that, being far away from gotham would also mean being far away from any possible interruption.

and that’s how you ended up on a plane.

she's very worried about everything going perfect and you can clearly see it on her face. she already spent the previous night double-checking everything in the luggage you packed. then triple-checking. then somehow convincing herself that you had accidentally packed two left shoes for her, which you hadn’t, and repacking the whole suitcase from scratch while you laid in bed, pretending not to hear the quiet but escalating argument she was having with a travel-sized lint roller. you glance at her again. she’s finally stopped fidgeting, head tilted back against the seat, eyes closed, not sleeping, but close enough. you slide your hand gently over hers, resting on the armrest between you. “i packed the right shoes,” you whisper, just loud enough for her to hear. her lips twitch upwards, but she doesn’t open her eyes. like she wants to laugh but is too stressed to.

“guess I’ll be the judge of that when we land,” she murmurs. “cause i swear if one more thing goes wrong I’m putting myself in arkham and calling it a sabbatical.” you snort softly at that, turning in your seat just enough to catch her expression. her eyes are still closed, but her jaw is tight, like she’s only half-joking. “if anything goes wrong…” you pause, letting your thumb brush over the back of her hand, “…we’ll figure it out. together.”

barbara doesn’t say anything after that, but she doesn’t let go of your hand, either.

⁀➷ cat got your tongue?

surprisingly, roy doesn’t come straight to you when he first realizes he’s attracted to you. you see, my man’s been unlucky when it comes to love for as long as he can remember, so at first all he does is look at you from a distance. not in a creepy way, but roy knows he can be a handful at times.

it really doesn’t matter if you’re a civillian or a vigilante, he thinks of himself as too much of a mess most of the time, so that prevents him from making a move for a while.

it does not, however, prevent him from desperately trying to make you laugh.

⁀➷ joking is his love language

roy is aways teasing and spewing jokes like his like depends on it. mostly because he wants to see you laugh. even on the most inconvenient moments.

If a joke does land? as soon as you turn the other way, he’s doing a tiny air pump of triumph like he just won the superbowl. he thinks you don’t notice. you definitely caught him doing it a couple of times.

he’ll love it if you tease him back. your jokes will sometimes be met with a “careful or I’ll make you carry my gear” and a big smug grin across his face.

⁀➷ calls you by nicknames.

it doesn’t take long before he gives you a nickname and runs with it. i can definitely picture him calling his partner angel, dove, pretty bird, hotshot.

after the day he gives you a nickname, your name will only be used when he’s talking about a serious subject.

⁀➷ clock is ticking.

he probably makes a move after one of his friends (it’s probably either lilith, jason or donna) knocks sense into his head. not that they convince him to ask you out, god knows how much he wanted to, but they give him that final push he needed.

it hits him like a train. what could he be possibly be waiting for? he’s been pining forever but never actually crossing that line.

“okay, screw it! i can’t keep dancing around this. go out with me. please.” it’s not suave. it’s not a line. it’s raw, nervous. he immediately shoves a hand through his hair and mutters, “god, that was so lame” but he’s already smiling, wide and crooked, and you already accepted.

physical touch is a must for roy, doesn’t have to be sexual, he just likes touching you.

he likes kissing your whole face. kisses your nose to say good morning, kisses your shoulder when hugs you from behind, nuzzles his face on the crook of your neck when you’re embracing after a long mission.

if you’re laying down in bed minding your business, sometimes he will lay on top of you, laughing as you curse at him and try to push his deadweight off you with no sucess.

you’d have to spend time with lian. he is definitely beaming when you get along well.

when he sees you two laughing together, he’s practically glowing. like, he’ll lean against a wall, arms crossed, watching with a grin that says, “yep, my two favorite people in the same room.”

he’s giddy when you and lian team up to roast him. “oh, great, now it’s two against one.” (but secretly? he lives for it.)

⁀➷ a future? and I’m in it?

when he’s really comfortable, he lets slip little wishes for the future, like little plans about “when we get out of this mess” or “maybe one day.”

“maybe one day we… i dunno… take a real vacation somewhere not on fire or under threat. just… us.” he’ll say it so casually, like he’s joking, but there’s that tiny tremble in his voice that betrays how much he means it.

roy melts when you share with him that you have plans that include him. he’ll love hearing about them even if they’re casual plans like going out, but it makes him specially happy, and honestly surprised when they’re long term plans. like wait … you mean… you actually see him in the future?

he’ll tease you about it like “aw, look at you making plans with me”, but inside he’s replaying it over and over, thinking holy crap, I’m part of someone’s life plans.

Roy has nice hands and they're always fiddling and fidgeting with his little gadgets. And it's always in like a gentle way cus his doodads are so tiny and finicky. He has patience and precision is what I'm saying.

He's always tweaking and fine-tuning his arrows (like a slut) at the kitchen table and you're just trying to eat breakfast without letting your mind wander too far at 8am on a monday.

you could be seen behind jason making threatening gestures with your hands, almost as if to say, ‘leave a nice comment, or you’re getting blocked!’

“and this one is ‘pride and prejudice’ by jane austen. another oldie but a classic,” jason said with a nonchalant shrug. “the writing’s beautiful, and i love elizabeth’s character because she reminds me of a certain someone. probably one of my favourite books of all time and just a really good comfort read.”

he turned to see your face quickly morph into heart-eyes and a sweet smile.

“good job, honey. that was a great presentation,” you praised before giving his cheek a loving kiss.

“oh, and i’m also part of a book club. we meet at the community center in the bowery every thursday evening. new members are always welcome,” jason off-handedly added.

“and new members are always welcome,” you sharply reiterated, glancing at the camera with a scary scowl and furrowed brows. “see you thursdays.”

chaotic photos he thinks are aesthetically appealing. some of them are purposefully blurry and you swear you can’t quite make out what’s in them. they’re mostly pictures he took on hang outs with you and/or with his friends, which usually captions with an inside joke no one else understands.

he aways makes sure to insert random memes in between photo dump slides.

extremely professional posts related to wayne enterprises™ that look way too out of place compared to the rest of his feed.

they’re mostly candid pictures because, weirdly enough, most of the time you don’t actually see him take a picture of you, so you don’t exactly get to pose for them even if you wanted to.

he does ask for your permission before posting them, though. he doesn’t wanna risk getting scolded if you don’t like the picture. but he eventually learns to filter the ones you’ll definitely like.
