Apparently there are some sick bureaucrats out there that uses staples ON DEVELOPPED PHOTOGRAPHS??? Like not printed on normal paper, but actual specialized photograph films. I had to take the staple out without harming the photo, which is easier said than done ! and it leaves HOLES EVERY WHERE !!! just put a paper clip if you really need them there ! or better yet, a plastic film stapled to the document if you must!!!
second, (you'll see how much i love staples) people puts staples ON TOP OF OTHER STAPLES !! Like, for exemple, they staple a couple of documents together, than another different documents together, then decided to staple the two bunch TOGETHER, but ON TOP of the previous TWO !! Like JUST TODAY for 5 documents there were 3 staples !!! what kind of asshole does that ???!!!! if you really need them together JUST SLAP A PAPER CLIP
i love paper clips ! they're easy and gentle and DONT DESTROY YOUR FINGERNAILS ! please think about the archivist who will have to handle your poor staple-driven decisions SOBBING
Third, one my missions is conditioning (aka preparing for storage) a bunch of different posters for events around my city, it gets pretty far back (2010 is the oldest i've seen) (though i've seen older things at the archives), and its crazy how few people
1. know how to properly credit photos/drawings, and sometimes decide to opt out of it (annoying, but that also may because i'm also an artist) (one guy just slapped the photo's URL and decided it was a credit as well) and
2. DONT KNOW how to actually do a poster ?? Like they leave out important info, or just use colours that clash and obscure the text written on it ?? Like, one poster I had to condition literally didn't even say WHERE that event took place. the role of the poster is to have ALL needed info on it at a glance !!! not JUST be pretty !! if you need to look up ANY info except maybe the hour (ill forgive you for that) then its a bad poster IMO.
(thats not even talking about the obvious AI generated ones... sigh)
(and please add the year too. at least SOMEWHERE. I had to dig deep for one poster's year of provenance but couldn't find it anywhere. i did find a terminus ante quem though so theres that)
and like, those posters are usually done my either communications firms or the the comm branch of a firm ??? aren't they supposed to know that kind of things ??
I sound like im slowly becoming a tired and grumpy bureaucrats at this job, but i promise it's actually really fun, and not just cause you get to see the gossip, and nothing's better than tea that has grown cold 50 years ago TRUST ME
also theres something really funny about some work days being so boring you find yourself making gossip out of the slightest hint of brewing in the things you handle
