I think a game that I personally have played that made me change how I thought of something would definitely be "Pokémon Channel" for the Nintendo GameCube!
This game is actually really sentimental to me because I got it for my 10th birthday and it was the very first Pokemon game I've ever played.
I absolutely loved playing this game as a kid, I nicknamed my Pikachu, we watch TV together, went to some cool places around town, and also we shared so many moments together in the times I played it. I even beat the game!
I remember one time as a kid when I was about play the game and I accidentally deleted one of my original save files and I was devastated. I think it was because I accidentally started a new game. It took a bit, but I picked up where I left off and soon completed the game.
Upon replaying it as an adult, it brought back so many memories that I know I can never technically experience again, but it's still like a time capsule of that childhood wonder I had and still try to keep to this day.
Interestingly enough, Pokemon Channel wasn't the initial Pokémon game I was gifted on my birthday, that was Pokémon: Gale of Darkness. Unfortunately, the disc was severely scratched and damaged to the point where it couldn't be played, which absolutely sucked; thankfully, I think we were able to exchange Gale of Darkness for Pokémon Channel, so I still got a Pokémon game as a birthday present! This experience alone definitely changed something in my mind about taking good care of your game discs.
Pokemon Channel also reminds me to also enjoy some of the similar things in life, such as watching TV with someone you love, going to the park, the beach, the woods, or enjoying the various channels you can unlock on this game!
Overall, this game has changed how I view video gaming, it's not just about the mainliners or a competitive high score, a video game can simply be enjoyed just by messing around or relaxing. This game is definitely one I consider a cozy game and you also get a cool buddy to hang out with! I think this was the starting point to why I like cozy and casual games specifically. I like to play competitive games but at the same time, I acknowledge that I should wind down a little every now and again.
