1. Rosalie rolling her eyes at Emmett
2. Rosalie rolling her eyes at Edward
âThe last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others.â
i donât like how entertained the cullens were when bella threw tf outta jacob for imprinting on the demon child and she didnât have to say that he âfelt entitled with some moronic wolfie claimâ because never did he say or act like that
apparently these were supposed to be the original outfits for that scene. WE WERE ROBBED!!
Rosalie: There is nothing quite like watching the remains of your vanquished enemies roasting on an open fire.Â
Carlisle: This is so upsetting; all these lives lost! Jasper: SoâŚÂ you want me to toss this on the pyre or what?Â
I love how Alice is just staring at the camera like yup this is what passes for normal in my family
she had to do it to em

Happy Valentineâs Day from Resentment and the Cullens âĄ
Itâs disturbing to witness SO many ppl fantasizing about a bunch of white characters brutally beating and threatening an indigenous boy and acting self righteous when other people are upset. Â A white woman wrote a (16 year old) native character as sexually violent towards a white girl, a super old super racist trope and the most common reaction is literally violence to that character, done by noble honorable white people, the fucking Confederate soldier included, people are really just absorbing the racism.
Jacob didnât choose to sexually assault Bella, Stephanie Meyer, a grown white women chose to make her teenage indigenous character sexually assault her white protagonist in order to villainize him in the eyes of the reader, she did it so people would hate this brown character, think he was bad, and think he deserved to be treated badly, and it seems like it worked based on so much of what ppl post on here. Â This is so awful because presenting brown and black men as dangerous, violent, and animalistic, specifically as sexual threats to white women, has been used in art for years to spread racist beliefs(ex. Birth of a Nation) and has been done in real life in order to justify violence and murder towards real people of color throughout history in every part of the world. Â The idea that all Native American men wanted to rape white women was spread in the 1800s in order to stir fear and hatred and justify genocide and forced relocation. Â Meyerâs characterization of Jacob reflects those same beliefs. Â Itâs terrifying to see people my age taking that at face value, accepting that the Native American teenager is sexually violent, is only interested in sleeping with the white girl, is deep down not a good person, without questioning it, without being critical of why this white Mormon author wrote this brown boy this way. Â Especially when at the same time, the white characters, Confederate included, are presented as good and noble protectors of the white girlâs honor through violence! Â This attitude that brown men are dangerous to white women, and need to be punished violently by noble whites has led to thousands of innocent people being killed. Itâs a very old kind of racism and the consequences are real for people, absorb that information, use your brain, grow as a person.
What did you think of Bella's engagement ring? Am I the only one who sees it as out of her style? Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of giving a family heirloom to a fiancee, but I feel like it should fit the character as well. 'A long gold oval covered in small diamonds'? It sounds like something way out of Bella's style and more like a fantasy SMeyer wanted. If it were up to me, I would have picked a more minimalist design with an antique sapphire or something. What do you think?
Yeah I was never a fan of the ring.
Like you said, the sentiment is nice, but Bella Swan (claims she) doesn't want fancy things. She only accepted the heart charm because Edward said it was a crystal (it wasn't, it was a diamond of course). So this huge oval ring crusted with diamonds is not Bella's style. Diamond engagement rings weren't really a common thing until well into the 1940s, so Elizabeth Masen might not even have HAD an engagement ring at all, and if she did, it didn't have to feature diamonds.
These feels like another instance of either a) SM lavishing Bella with fancy things via other characters because Bella is Good and therefore can't ask for/want these things herself or b) Edward not taking Bella's tastes and boundaries into account and giving her the 'best' of something even if she doesn't want it (like replacing her beat up old truck that she loved with a brand new missile-proof Mercedes). Or both. Could be both!
It feels like "LOOK AT ALL THE DIAMONDS!" and not "this is to Bella's personal tastes."
I mean Edward could have looked over his mother's jewelry with Alice and had Alice tell him which one Bella would like the most or whatever (assuming Alice herself would tell the truth here and not also lavish Bella with the Best one vs the one Bella would actually like best). Also, were the Masens already swimming in money and jewels or did Edwad Sr have to work long hours as a successful lawyer to provide them with nice things? She seems to want it both ways.
Iâm sorry but that ring was just ugly to me, despite how many diamonds were on it.
Random, but you know that itâs canon that Bella spent her summers with Charlie (at least when she was younger)? I like to think that since Billy and con are legit his best (read: only) friends, Bella prob spent a lot of time on the Rez too, specifically around some of the pack as kids (specifically Jacob and his sisters, plus Leah and Seth bc tbh it would make sense, and Bella and Leah should have been friends to begin with, but thatâs another convo). Anyways, any headcanons for this?
Oh I am aware and totally agree, and that's why I was very confused when Bella didn't know what La Push was in the first movie... You definitely went there every summer for several years when your father went fishing, Bella. Hello??? đ¤
But yeah, headcanons:
So it's the summer of 1992. Bella is 4, Leah is 5, Rachel and Rebecca are 6, Jacob is 2 and Seth is barely 1
It took a long time for Bella to warm up to Rachel, Rebecca and a Leah, AKA the 3 musketeers. They were confident and rambunctious while Bella had a more quiet and timid demeanor, but she could get fired up if you pressed her buttons long enough
When Bella first meet the twins she could never tell them apart, and the twins were always quick to correct her. It was super embarrassing for Bella and she profusely apologized the first few times
One day Bella finally got it right but the twins pretended she was wrong. She threw the tantrum of all tantrums (queue the red face and feet stomping) when Leah told her she was actually right, and she ranted about it to Charlie for the entire drive back to Forks
The next weekend Bella ran over to the twins, pointed between them and shouted, "You're Rachel and YOU'RE Rebecca!!" Standing behind the twins, Leah gave her two thumbs up. All the parents laughed
The twins and Leah spent a lot of time outdoors, doing things like playing king of the castle on the driftwood of First Beach or riding their bikes through puddles and mud around the rez
Bella tried to climb the driftwood once, fell, and scraped her knee. She didn't attempt it again no matter how many time the girls pestered her to come play. She collected seashells and skipped along the tides instead
Sometimes Bella wasn't in the mood to be outdoors so she would spend her time with Jacob and his mom Sarah at their house, since he was still too young to run around with the older girls
While Jacob sat in his high chair playing with cheerios, Sarah would let Bella draw at the table or help stir things in the kitchen while she stood on a stool
Sometimes they would go in the yard and Bella would help Jacob make mudpies to bake in their imaginary oven, and Sarah would watch them through the kitchen window with a smile
When the weather would force all the kids to stay inside, Rachel and Rebecca would turn their room into a beauty salon. This was an activity Bella could shine in-- she could paint nails fairly neat (but she had a lot of spills because she knocked over the polish bottles a lot)
Jacob had to endure a lot of butterfly clips and messy braids in his hair, and there's photo evidence in the family albums
Leah had a constellation book with pictures that Bella fell in love with, and she begged Charlie to let her sleepover at the Clearwater's so she could point out the stars with Leah
Harry set up a tent and sleeping bags in the backyard. Sue brought them hot chocolate and marshmallows, and Harry told them stories about the shapes they saw in the night skies until they fell asleep
You guys think Bella would shield Jasper and Emmett so they can finally have a fair fight against Edward? I feel like she wouldnât because she knows theyâll rock him.
Edward seems like that friend that randomly brings up his traumas and toxic family life out of no where and you just feel uncomfortable when he talks about it so nonchalantly. And youâre just like âdo you need a hug?â
Edward: âYeah, my dad wasnât really present during my human life, but my mom made up for that but she died back in 1901 then this hot blonde doctor damned me with immortality. Iâm a burden.â
Person: âSir, this is a McDonaldâs.â
1918*(sry imâa dumbass)
okay but why the hell did edward ask emmett and jasper for sex advice in breaking dawn when it seems like clearly the denali sisters would have way more helpful information about human/vampire sex risk management?? au where they make him a powerpoint
if i was esme cullen my children simply wouldnât be using derogatory racial slurs to refer to indigenous people but thatâs just me yk
Edward + sassy quotes.
The Cullens donât value human life, or: Carlisle, honey, Iâm so sorry
So, Carlisle is in a miserable situation.
He was forcibly turned into a vampire under traumatic circumstances, and became a cannibalistic demon. Against all odds he discovered that he didnât actually have to kill people: however, he was still lonely. Fast forwards a few lonely years, he found a BFF and homoerotic academic in Aro, and spent decades trying to persuade him to his diet. Failed. Decided to travel the world in search of likeminded - failed.
Thereâs no one.
Fast forwards to 1918, Carlisle has spent centuries trying to get someone, anyone, to understand this seemingly simple concept. Donât eat people, please, itâs literally the only thing Carlisle asks. And heâs still asking too much.
We know how history then unfolded itself - Carlisle was going to let the Masens die, as countless patients had before, and then Elizabeth Masen said ânu uh, not my son he wonât!â, and that was the kick in the butt Carlisle needed to create his own companion. Converting others had failed, but maybe a brand new vampire who has never known anything different and who looks to Carlisle for guidance will follow the diet.
And it works. Edward follows Carlisleâs diet. A few years later Carlisle repeats the experiment, now heâs in a coven of three vampires who are actually doing the diet. What a world. Iâm sure he was walking around in a daze for a solid portion of that time.
The coven grows, soon Carlisle has a whole squad of vegetarians, and even a cousin squad. (Although since the Denali sister went for the diet because they wanted to have sex with the same men multiple times, I can only picture Carlisleâs delight upon finding them quickly turning into a thousand yard stare.)
Anyway, Carlisle has what he always wanted, let there be happiness galore.
Unfortunately, none of the Cullens actually care about human life.
Off the top of my head:
Edward left Carlisle for years. This by itself is a dealbreaker, he had all the love and support he could ever ask for, and turned his back on it because heâd rather kill people. Killing rapists wasnât even his first instinct, at first he killed homeless junkies, since no one would miss them. He only turned to rapists because junkies taste awful. He turned back not because he learned the error of his ways, but because life wasnât fulfilling. He has learned nothing: when we meet him in 2005, he would have eaten Bella and the Biology class if it werenât for Carlisle, contemplates killing all the Quileutes, and in Volterra he would have gone on a massacre, again if it wasnât for Carlisle. This guy doesnât care about human life, and he never becomes a better person. He abstains from human blood for Carlisle, to feel like less of a monster, and because it plays into his superiority complex.
Esme makes it very clear sheâs fine with Bellaâs untimely death. Sheâd let Bella die to satisfy Edwardâs thirst, or to keep him in Forks. Her vote for Bella to live has nothing to do with Bella, and she later gives Edward implicit approval to eat her if he wants. Itâs additionally damning that Edward isnât at all surprised by her behavior. She does the diet for her family.
Rosalie used not wanting to move to a new place and start over as an argument in favor of killing Bella. She later places her bet that Bella will be eaten in the meadow. She adheres to the diet better than anyone in the family, but she doesnât actually care for the individual human life, not even when itâs an innocent girl. Her main reason for following the diet is that she wants to be as close to being human as possible, and maneating demon is about as far from human as you can get.
Emmetâs response to Edward having a singer is âTreat yourself, bro!â and when Bellaâs becoming a vampire, he makes a bet about how many people sheâll kill. He could not care less. He follows the diet for Rosalieâs sake.
Alice lives the way she does because her visions told her that she should live with the Cullens. She cares about Bella because Bella is her barbie, and she treats her like an accessory rather than a person. When push comes to shove she brings Bella to Volterra, knowing what the Volturi do to humans who know the secret. She never appears to care about humans for the sake of humans, at one point we see her try to help Jasper control his thirst: âIt helps if you think of them as people!â
Jasperâs gift is essentially a shock collar that made a human diet unsustainable for him.
Bella chooses vampirism, knowing that thereâs a chance sheâll kill people. When told of Jasper and Emmetâs newborn Bella body count bet, she is not at all concerned. And the thirst is never a problem for her, she doesnât have to struggle to stay on the diet. She eats animals because sheâs a Cullen, Cullens eat animals. Duh.
(I know this is a bit reductive, I do have far more to say on each of these, but Iâm trying to be a succinct person)
Theyâre not doing the human diet for altruistic reasons.
This is the thing that makes Carlisle a tragic character to me.
Loneliness is his whole thing, and all he ever wanted in a companion someone who shared his ideals, who would value human life as he does. What he ends up with is the Cullens, who all believe theyâre amazing people for not eating people and morally superior (they wonât say it aloud, but- well theyâll absolutely say it aloud. And they do.) to other vampires, but they donât actually care at all.
We see it in Rosalie, Emmet, and Jasper deciding to kill Bella in Midnight Sun, we see it in- well, I just wrote a bunch of examples above. We see it again and again, these people care about human life up until the second itâs inconvenient for them to do so.
And all Carlisle can do is live in intense double think denial where his family is filled with wonderful people who care about humans so much, but he also has to make them go to their victimâs funerals in a desperate, and very telling, bid to make them understand that humans are people.
The whole point of the Cullens is that after centuries of loneliness Carlisle finally has a family of vampires who share his ideals, but when they donât actually care-
Well.
Carlisle, honey, Iâm so sorry.
OMG! That's exactly how I imagine Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga! I mean, he's frozen in his 17 years old forever and he should look like it! Exactly like Bells should look too, although she was changed at her 19y. She only met Edward on her 17y old too. Sometimes, I think the fandom forget that he's physically and mentally frozen at that age, exactly like the other Cullens. But, these are my thoughts only. And, having said that, I would love to see more fanarts or edits about them like that <3
That's not my edit. I was scrolling through insta and saw that beautiful edit from @ robert.pattinson_3
