LAWLIGHT WEEK 2026 JULY 19TH - 25TH!! Theme: The Game
Hello! Thank you for putting this event together!
I had an idea for my submission and wanted to run it by the admin(s) to see if it would be alright. It's a Slasher Movie AU, only instead of focusing on gore/violence, it's focused on the cat and mouse dynamic, being hunted by a killer, and those elements (and they're being Gay about it lmao). I don't see it needing any archive warnings, but I still wanted to double check because of the nature of the AU.
Thanks so much!
Hi! Not only would this be alright, it would downright slay (pun intended). Please tag us so we can read and promote it when you’re done!
My question is, are only writers involved, or can artists participate too?
and do I have to choose one of the presented themes through "/ " or depict two at once in one?
Of course artists can participate! Fanart is a huge part of Lawlight Week. Checking out previous Lawlight weeks ( @lawlightweek2025 @lawlightweek2024) can help you get an idea of what the event actually looks like! The prompts are simply inspiration and can be interpreted any which way you want. It can be about one, both, or the contrast between them. It's simply a starting point to get the imagination going, and to create the sense of a uniting theme on the corresponding day.
The interest form is now closed!! We’d like to thank everyone who submitted prompts. Stay tuned for our official prompt list!
A special thanks to those who offered to create promotional pieces! We also loved reading all your questions and comments (even if one of you made us lose the game).
Get your input in for Lawlight Week 2026!! Survey closes May 13th!
Lawlight Week 2026 Interest Check!
Can I submit multiple forms as I get more ideas of prompt suggestions?
Sure! Since the interest check is a required question, put "not interested" so you aren't counted twice. That way, we'll have an accurate sense of the size of the event. :) You could also send prompt suggestions to our ask box, we'll see them either way! Thank you for your interest in Lawlight Week! :DD
can we have more clarification on triggering/sensitive topics? are canon-typical things (death, murder etc) okay, for example? can we write about mental illnesses or grief?
Canon-typical topics are perfectly ok! Darker and unsettling works come with the territory of Death Note. Violence and grief is inherent to lawlight, and we have no intention to soften their edge. The intention with the "triggering/sensitive" topics rule is to make sure people can safely and enthusiastically participate in this event. We are personally proponents of "write whatever you want forever!" But as this event and it's works will be promoted broadly to the entirety of the fandom, we want to make sure no one is exposed to content that could harm them.

LAWLIGHT WEEK 2026 INTEREST CHECK!!!! Please fill out this form to show interest, vote on event period, and suggest prompts!
Lawlight Week 2026 Interest Check!
LAWLIGHT WEEK 2026 CONTENT RULES
No works containing the archive warnings (Graphic Depictions of Violence, Rape/Non-Con, Underage Sex) beyond the extent they appear in canon
No works prominently featuring triggering/sensitive topics. Please feel free to reach out for clarification!
NSFW content can be promoted via a summary or preview and then linked offsite to Ao3 or an image hosting platform
If a prompt inspires a work outside of these guidelines, that’s great! But we encourage you to post it separate from this event
This is an event we want the whole fandom to be able to comfortably, enthusiastically engage!
LAWLIGHT WEEK 2026 FAQ
[More may be added as questions come in!]
Can I interpret prompts loosely or combine them together? Of course! The prompts are a uniting theme to serve as inspiration
Who’s hosting this event? This event is cohosted by @eeuphiee and @nottodaylogic
Is [X] topic okay? If it falls under consensual kink, probably! If it needs a trigger warning or a disclaimer, it’d be best to ask, or post the work separate from the event.
How do I share my creations? Tag it with #lawlightweek2026 and we’ll reblog it here! There is also a Lawlight Week 2026 collection on ao3
Can I post out of order? We encourage submitting works on the corresponding theme day, but it’s okay to post late or out of order!
Can under 18 participate? We will not be enforcing age restrictions on this event. Please stay safe and use your best discretion!
