I hate how women get so much flack for being older parents and men don’t. Do NOT mention the biological aspect because there is a higher rate of birth defects in children with older fathers too. I get so pissed off whenever I see a man over 45 (often 50+, sometimes 60+) talking about how he thinks he’s finally ready to settle down and start a family OR WORSE YET, leave his childfree relationship because he suddenly realized he wanted children. It would be a bit more understandable if these guys were looking for age appropriate women to settle down with but the guys that suddenly decide they want to be a father once they’re brushing up against middle age always want to impregnate a woman in her 20s or early 30s because they think women their age are ‘all used up’ and they are somehow…not? The general vibe of selfishness makes it difficult for me to believe you will be a good father and I hope your child comes home one way and asks you to stop coming to their school events because all of their peers call you ‘Grandpa Dad’.

On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."

As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.

As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.

May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
