Another gift, this time a necklace stylized like a raven’s feather. Part of her old house symbol, though many of her gowns still had raven’s feathers sown in. The thoughtfulness was heart-touching, but he’d given her so many in the weeks after their wedding. It was starting to become curious, and Meera felt like the gifts were unnecessary. As much as she liked the flattery and thoughtfulness, it was as if he was still trying to woo her. Lithe fingers clasped around the silver metal, and wandering feet brought her to her husband. A gentle knock on a cracked study door, and she was just as gentle in tone of voice as well. “M’lord? Can we talk a moment?” Jonos was her husband, yes, but it was all still new ground.
no part of jon was used to having a wife . the last had been an unfortunate loss , long before they had ever grown close . this time , he ‘ d attempted to mend that by showing her that she was appreciated as best he could : providing her with gifts , making certain meera wanted for nothing . past dalliances with women had always been short lived , and it was almost difficult to believe that there was a wife under his roof . among those who he considered friends , there was no shortage of teasing about his odd methods . he had been seated in his study , quietly replying to letters as was his duty . when the interruption of her arrival came , he rose to welcome her inside. “ my lady . is all well ? “
