Writing process
Alright, it's ramble time, though I would be curious to hear feedback from other writers.
I had a bit of a realization recently.
The painting held by the protesters is "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. It was painted in response to an event during the Spanish Civil War in 1937 where the small Basque town was bombed extensively by Nazi German and Italian forces. 1,645 people were killed and a further 889 were injured. The town was defenseless and held no military gain or strategic value to either opposing forces.
A thousand died defenceless at the hands of an unnecessary military raid. This is a war crime condemned by thousands across the globe.
Tens of thousands more are dying today in Palestine due to Israeli "defences", yet the Western world refuses to condemn them for the same war crime, and dozens more at a much more severe rate.
Guernica communicates the same message today as an anti-war painting, however it is not a conflict if one side has the weapons and the other has their prayers.
Israel is not and never will be the victim.
Israel is an Apartheid Terrorist state.
A four day ceasefire will never be enough if Palestinians are given freedom only to be carpet bombed and buried again. They are grouping the masses to wipe them out more efficiently.
It does not stop at a ceasefire. Palestine must be liberated.
What to boycott NOW to help stop Israel’s unfolding genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
We call on our supporters to strengthen our targeted boycott and divestment campaigns to maximize our impact!
Reminder that boycotting DOES work, there is historic proof! Don't let anyone discourage you otherwise!
The BDS movement uses the historically successful method of targeted boycotts inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the US Civil Rights movement, the Indian anti-colonial struggle, among others worldwide.
We must strategically focus on a relatively smaller number of carefully selected companies and products for maximum impact. Companies that play a clear and direct role in Israel’s crimes and where there is real potential for winning, as was the case with, among others, G4S, Veolia, Orange, Ben & Jerry’s and Pillsbury. Compelling such huge, complicit companies, through strategic and context-sensitive boycott and divestment campaigns, to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians sends a very powerful message to hundreds of other complicit companies that “your time will come, so get out before it’s too late!”
Please reblog! Spread this! There is an effort by zionists to discourage people from boycotting! Don't let them trample your spirits and help us in the fight for a liberated Palestine!
I made some ASMR ambient atmosphere mixes for your highly specific needs
1.) Haunted campout in a northern forest where strange beasts lurk in the distance and whispers of the unquiet dead keep you awake through the long dark night 2.) The Joker is probably getting ready to murder you horribly in an abandoned warehouse 3.) Killer Croc hunts you through the Gotham sewers, occasionally eating corpses 4.) Man has pleasant vanilla sex with a monster in cheap motel bed 5.) You’re the last gunslinger marching across a dreary wasteland after the world has moved on, pursuing the man in black across the desert while the machines of the old world still hum their death throes
6.) woman flees across frozen tundra from evil mechanical whales from another dimension 7.) frightend young boy is chased through forest by the Wild Hunt and their eldritch hounds
These titles, are, uh, not inaccurate in the least!
Spanish Vocab - First 600 Words
I came across a list of the first 600 words a language learner should learn in their target language, and thought I should make a Spanish version! This took a while to make so forgive me if there are some mistakes, but hopefully you'll find this helpful. Happy learning!

Hi! Your blog is one of my favourites! I was wondering if you had any resources to learn tagalog? Like, pdfs, or good apps?
awh thank you! and YES OFC
- Essential Tagalog Grammar (link)
- Tagalog Grammar (link)
- Memrise Courses | Anki Courses
- Unilang - Quick Reference Grammar (link)
- Beginning Tagalog Textbook (Google Books) - looks kind of old. idk if I would use this as my main resource; maybe as a reading resource on the side
- Living Language Tagalog (Scribd)
- Teach Yourself Tagalog (Scribd)
- Project Gutenberg Tagalog Books (link)
- a bunch of Tagalog music playlists (1) (2) (3)
- the Elementary Tagalog textbook is pretty good too, but it’s pretty pricey and I can’t seem to find a pdf version online :(
Good luck!
reminder to:
straighten your back
go pee goddAMN IT STOP HOLDING IT
go take your meds if you need to
drink some water
go get a snack if you havent eaten in a while
maybe wander around the house/stretch a little if you’ve been sat at the computer a while (artists especially: sTRETCH THOSE WRISTS)
reply to that text/message from earlier you’d forgotten about
maybe send a nice lil message to someone having a bad day?
I just would like to thank everyone who ever reblogs this so that it somehow ends up back on my dash because I usually need the reminder (especially the drinking water one)
Of all posts to see with a million notes, I’m glad it’s this one.
Cannibalism - The Other Other Red Meat
… Okay so I roleplay some pretty interesting characters. I’ve been writing cannibalistic character for, oh, 10 years at least? And I sense a fandom on the horizon, a great beast, which may require some of this knowledge… Or like 6 of them, because anatomy in the form of eats is good for monsters too, and considering there will be a ‘cooking’ section, and which bits compare to which animals, you’ll probably like this if you want to cook meat of any kind.
So click on through for a textual adventure in the art of eating humans! Here’s a hint, if you have a thing against gore, cannibalism, or butchering… this may not be the article for you.

“young adult dystopian novels are so unrealistic lmao like they always have some random teenage girl rising up to inspire the world to make change.”
a hero emerges
And just like in the novels, grown men and women are going out of their way to destroy her. Support our hero.
And it’s not even like it doesn’t happen regularly.

DAPL protestors (names not found)

This isn’t a coincidence. Revolutions almost always happen when the population of a country is at its youngest and that’s a lot more true nowadays with social media.
Claudette Colvin was actually the first one to refuse her seat in Montgomery, Alabama to a white passenger. The movement chose to promote Rosa Parks as the figure for that form of protest because Claudette was a pregnant 15-year-old girl.
Barbara Rose Johns was a 16-year-old who organized a student strike protesting segregated schools. This strike, after gaining support of the NAACP, became a lawsuit that turned into Brown vs. The Board of Education and resulted in the desegregation of U.S schools nationally.
7th-grader Mary Beth Tinker, disturbed by the Vietnam War, decided to wear an arm band with a peace sign on it in protest. Her school suspended her. Her family filed a suit, Tinker vs. Des Moines, which reached the Supreme Court and ruled in her favor, ensuring that students and teachers maintain their right to free speech while in school.
Freddie & Truus Oversteegen were sisters who joined a Dutch resistance movement in WWII in their teens. They lured, ambushed, and assassinated Nazis and Dutch collaborators. They also blew up a railway line, transported Jewish refugees to new hiding places, and worked in an emergency hospital.
Our history books may like to showcase male figures, but behind every movement is a young girl ready to make a change. It was true then, it’s true now, and future generations of teenage girls will go on to inspire progress, whether they’re credited or not.
We were raised on these stories of fighting back against oppression, but then the people who wrote them or read them to us act shocked we turned out ready to fight facism even while being anti-social.
There are many reasons why women’s history is so often elided or erased in our education. But one of those reasons is that so MANY of the women who made history, did so for reasons that challenged existing structures of power…and usually in accessible, related ways that modern day institutions feared students learning from.
I saw one REALLY good piece of writing advice which is try to avoid using the protagonists pronouns bc it creates "psychic distance" between the reader and the protag. so avoid using "I/he/she/they saw the window" and instead describe the window, because it's implied the protag is looking at the window if you're describing it, if that makes sense.
so instead of: "I looked to the sky and saw birds flying above." you would write something like "Up in the sky, birds flew in formation." which not only gives a better description of the event, but allows the reader to feel part of it, rather than just observing an observer. obviously there are instances where you have to use pronouns, in most action sentences you need them. but things relating to the senses can be described without creating that distance
i saw a post awhile back saying people don’t want queer representation they want queer romance, and that really put words to how i feeling about shipping culture
like wednesday and enid stood in the same room together, didn’t even like each other , and people were screaming at the top of their lungs “MARRIAGE!!”
i think that’s fundamentally why we get so little representation of the trans community and the aro and ace spectrums, i still have yet to hear the word Aromantic on film or tv (i know there’s a tv show rn in i think japan that features a aroace lead i haven’t watched it yet) i’ve seen clips of shows here and there that use the word asexual so that’s good but from what i understand they’re alloace representation which still allows the characters to participate in romance (someone correct me if there’s aroace rep)
idk it’s all just exhausting
i really wish there was a stronger push for like queer people just existing in tv and film instead of the only option being romantic relationships
"let people enjoy things" is about like. danganronpa or hannibal or something else like that. not the antisemetic wizard game that's going to be funding anti-trans campaigns in the uk.
For many girls and women, aromanticism is inherently a form of gender nonconformity, just as asexuality is for boys and men.
Romance novels are seen as being “feminine,” and romcoms are often derogatorily called “chick-flics,” for example. Women are expected to want flowers and chocolates and care about things like anniversaries and marriage to a greater extent than is expected of men. Even many of the things women are expected to do to conform to female gender roles are centered around looking attractive: having long well-styled hair, wearing makeup, shaving, wearing skirts and dresses, etc.
So shoutout to aro women and girls who want to be feminine but feel like their aromanticism makes them feel like an outsider to womanhood. Shout out to women and girls who feel left out of “girl talk” because they don’t have a crush or significant other to tell their friends about, or because they don’t think any of their classmates/coworkers/etc. are “cute.” Shout out to aro girls who are sick of being asked “who you’re dressing up for” any time they want to wear a bit of eyeliner and a pretty skirt. Your femininity is not made any less real or valid by your aromanticism.
And shoutout to gender nonconforming aro women and girls. Shoutout to aro women and girls whose aromanticism makes them feel disconnected from femininity. Shoutout to aro women and girls with short hair, and deep voices, and hair on their upper lips, chins, chests, stomachs, backs, armpits, arms, and legs that they choose not to shave off. Shoutout to aro women and girls who identify as both female and non-binary, who are both male and female, who use pronouns other than she/her. Shoutout to intersex aro girls and women. Y’all’re cool as hell and the aro community wouldn’t nearly as beautiful and vibrant without you.
With vanilla extract being a meme, I wanted to share some black history of Edmond Albius a black slave who revolutionized vanilla pollination.
He used a technique he learned of pollinating melons to polinate the orchids to create the vanilla beans. Vanilla was rare and a luxury mainly due to only being able to be pollinated by its natural pollinator in Mexico.
unfortanely, he didnt receive any money for his discovery despite being called the main man who revolutionized pollination, he died in poverty...
everyone say thank you Edmond
i hate that every time i look for color studies and tips to improve my art and make it more dynamic and interesting all that comes up are rudimentary explanations of the color wheel that explain it to me like im in 1st grade and just now discovering my primary colors
“red and green are opposites 🥰” cool now how do i paint a tree with pinks and blues without it looking like a child’s finger painting or incongruous blobs of rainbow vomit
ok i can’t explain it very well but im looking for tips and techniques for rendering art like
with specifically the highlights and colors being hues that compliment each other, don’t distract from the scene, and make it more interesting/visually appealing
is it too much to ask
gonna drop some sources I have saved on Pinterest! I don't know if these all link back to the original sources so apologies for that
cohesive but still contrasting
This kind of talks about color and composition
This is a bit about landscape specifically
Values & composition
Contrast in composition
Balance in colors & values
This one's more for palette building but I think it's useful and can be applied to the other ones
Cohesion within compositions/lighting
"Chromatic fringe" - I also see people using this with shading, they bring in a transition color that is a different hue than the base color or shadow, it makes it so that less vibrancy is lost and it doesn't get muddy!
This one specifically has a lot of process behind the style of painting you're looking for!
Also one of my favorite artists who makes bright and colorful art like this is Not Sorry Art on TikTok & YouTube, her website is here and it's<3 my fav. She has some videos where you can see her process
With the oranges painting you put as an example, I noticed they painted the lighter values more toward yellow - they also exaggerated the hues of the undertones of the photo, so I'm guessing they either did it in their head or bumped the saturation up to get a closer look! I really love these paintings you shared and I definitely share your desire to paint/draw like that :)
thanks this is super helpful! /gen
Fanfic Prompts: Bittersweet
For both romantic and platonic ships! Bittersweet is one of my fav categories~
“We aren’t blood related but you’re the most important family member of mine, you know that right?”
“Can you stay with me just a little longer?”
“I’m doomed to be lonely for the majority of my life, but I’m glad we’ve made the memories we have”
“It’s going to be a long road but I’m content.”
“How about one last adventure?”
“I know we didn’t talk much but either way I just want you to know, you were a big part of my life and I’m thankful for every second we got to spend together.”
“Can you stay up with me?”
“Can you just please listen to me! Just this once. Please.”
“We won’t grow old together will we?” “No, but we made memories that’ll outlive even us.”
“You’re only a memory to me now, but you’re my most cherished memory.”
Bringing the other out to watch the stars on a sad anniversary
Helping the other stop people pleasing because it’s destroying them.
Happy hangout/date that turns sour due to one of them having a medical emergency.
Staying up late to finally see the other who’s been over workings and falling asleep before they come home, they only getting home way later then expected and just seeing the other asleep with food wrapped up waiting for them.
Watching the other try to power through a event but their slowly cracking under the pressure, being unable to help them till after.
“Some day the world will forget us, yet I find myself oddly content.”
Helping the other through a bad day but it’s slowly breaking you down as well till they notice.
